Cuomo conference actually sounding logical and confident right now, nice to hear at least a bit of this in all this nonsensical chaos right now.

I listened to part of it on my drive home to hear how they're handling it, especially since I have family there. That was refreshing.

We made the call to shut down the indoor theater for the foreseeable future starting today. I fully expect to be closed until June. What a weird week it has been.

I have been distracted with stuff in my personal life, so until the NBA cancelled it's season I would say I was about 95% oblivious to the fact that this whole thing was any different than the scares we seem to have every few years.

My gf works for a dental office, instead of closing, they are running promotions hoping people will use their quarantine time to come in and get their dental work done.

This is the most American shit I've read in a while, even during this whole debacle, amazing.

Loving all this shit and literally everyone I know that is able to having worked from home since Friday while my office absolutely refuses to even acknowledge this on a level beyond "yeah just don't bullshit by the printer lol".

I can do my entire job from home with only slight modifications and was told no because "then everyone will want to work from home". They're looking at this as people wanting a free vacation, it's truly amazing, and we're essentially a mom & pop organization.

*After this conversation with my boss just now, frustration and anger is finally fully kicking in

I was supposed to go back to Germany to defend my master's thesis in about a month, so it looks like that's all on hold now. On the plus side for me, my university extended all of the submission deadlines by a month because the university is shut down.

I'm so glad that I moved back to the US from Germany back in November. At the time I was mostly just wanting to be closer to family, friends, and my girlfriend, having finally grown tired of living in Germany... but now, I'm even more grateful I took the leap... facing this pandemic is a lot less scary when closer to friends and family and in one's own country.

One of the nurses I work with has flu-like symptoms, unsure if he has COVID and wants to get tested. He called his provider and was told he can't get tested because there aren't enough tests. Still.

The next few months are going to suck - for the elderly, immunocompromised, healthcare workers, first responders, everyone... UGH.

It’s been fun watching my work adapt to all this. Last Monday it was “see a healthcare professional if you feel sick”. Friday was “if you feel sick stay home”. Today they changed how we can clock in and out, using an app on our phone instead of a machine that uses a fingerprint scanner. By the end of the day they’re letting anyone who can work from home leave with their computer equipment to work from home.

I hope RBG is taking extreme precautions

The past few years have taught me, whatever is the worst that could happen, will happen.

So RGB will die while Trump is in office and SCOTUS will be lost for a generation.
