I mean, in the two other non civil war expulsions, they waited until a conviction happened, so it’s not that out of line, even if it wasn’t THIS Republican Party.

A good point I saw on Bluesky about why expulsions without criminal convictions have historically been rare is that traditionally in this sort of situation, the representative's party would tell them behind the scenes to resign or be expelled, and the representative would do it to avoid the expulsion vote.
