skillzdadirecta
AMC, CINEMARK and other Exhibitors Sue New Jersey for "Unconstitutional" COVID-19 Opening Delay Quote Major movie theaters in New Jersey have filed a federal lawsuit against the state for its decision to hold back on reopening multiplexes due to lingering concerns about COVID-19. The National Association of Theatre Owners of New Jersey is leading the complaint (read it in full HERE), with major circuits like AMC, Cinemark and Regal also on board. The suit was filed Monday in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. The Garden State, like New York and Connecticut, has made great strides in combating the virus and has some of the lowest rates of infections in the country — though the rate has increased slightly in recent days. New Jersey has been steadily lifting restrictions, allowing houses of worship, casinos and shopping malls to reopen and permitting outdoor gatherings of up to 500 people.

WHO acknowledges 'emerging evidence' of airborne spread of COVID-19 (NBC News) Quote The World Health Organization on Tuesday acknowledged "emerging evidence" of the airborne spread of the coronavirus, after a group of scientists wrote a letter urging the global body to update its guidance on how the respiratory disease is spread. Speaking at a briefing in Geneva, Dr. Benedetta Allegranzi, a WHO expert, said the organization believed it had "been open to the evidence on modes of transmission" of the new virus. Relatedly... Trump administration moves to formally withdraw US from WHO (The Hill) Quote The White House has officially moved to withdraw the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO), a senior administration official confirmed Tuesday, breaking ties with a global public health body in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. The U.S. has submitted its withdrawal notification to the United Nations secretary-general, the official said. Withdrawal requires a year's notice, so it will not go into effect until July 6, 2021, raising the possibility the decision could be reversed.
TheLeon
I went to Kings Island today. Overall, I was really impressed with what they were doing, and people were mostly following the rules. It honestly felt as safe as my average trip to the grocery store. I'm not sure how well their procedures will hold once they open to the general public next week, so I'm glad I took my shot now. The new giga coaster, Orion, was pretty disappointing though. It's really similar to Diamondback, just taller and a little faster. I'm really salty that they tore down Firehawk for this. That’s not the issue here, it’s actually the ridiculous wording of the order which explicitly denies the ability of LEOs to arrest, and most importantly, detain violators. How do you write a citation to somebody violating the mask order without detaining them. Abbott’s team is either incompetent or did it on purpose, or maybe a little of both? b_m_b_m_b_m
Dumb people get appointed to positions all the time, let's not pretend it's some panacea, and it's not like good people who are appointed don't succumb to public pressure anyway.
