The provisions of covenants for these loans were so lenient to begin with that their ENTIRE INTENT was for

them to be forgiven anyway.  You spend the money in the way it was supposed to, you get the loan forgiven relatively easily.

Jesus Christ, liberals, not everything is a major scandal.

Scientology definitely needed a huge forgivable loan doe.

I would suppose the scandal is in whether the loans went to the people that needed them and not just well-connected people who are looking for a free handout.

Trump keeps saying the absolute case numbers are high because of testing. In a theoretical sense, that could be possible. In reality, it is of course not, because hospitalization and death numbers are also rising, and that has nothing to do with testing.

It's also not true because of the spot positivity rate.

Problem wasn’t that they would get forgiven. It’s that companies who should get or actually needed it drained the funds where actual small businesses that needed it couldn’t get it. Then when larger companies started getting shit for it the admin started to hide who got it.

I've mentioned this on more than one occasion, but I hate-watch Fox News primetime lineup most evenings. At the very least Hannity, but I sometimes catch the end of Tucker and the beginning of Laura Ingraham.

Since the pandemic began, at least since late March and early April when things got really bad, Hannity would have Ron DeSantis on the program most nights, and just fawn over what a great job Florida had done. "You have such a high concentration of elderly people, how did you manage to beat the pandemic?" This is at the same time (of course) that he's stoking the culture war of poorly run "Democrat" cities and states that were experiencing huge outbreaks.

But over the past 7-10 days with COVID outbreaks in Florida, Arizona, and other similar "Republican" cities and states, Hannity hasn't even talked about the pandemic. I think Media Matters did a transcript search and found during the time, coronavirus had only been talked about a collective 38 minutes, across the entire primetime lineup. If you watch Fox News just to watch it, and absorb each program nightly at face value, you probably can't see the disconnect. But it's jarring.

tl;dr Fox News is bullshit.

Nancy and co were so super concerned with means testing assistance for individuals but had no problem rushing through this shitshow.

The Big 10 is expected announce soon that they're cancelling all non-conference games for fall sports. I gotta believe this is gonna be like what happened in the spring where a couple of individual conference tournaments were cancelled but then the dominoes started falling and within a day or two there was no more march madness. I don't think we're getting fall college football.

They already did this but yeah, as someone said on the discord, theyve reached the bargaining stage

Bolivia's president and Venezuela's Socialist party leader test positive for Covid-19 (The Guardian)

Quote

Two more leading Latin American politicians – from Bolivia and Venezuela – have said they have tested positive for Covid-19 in the same week Brazil’s president announced he had contracted coronavirus.

Diosdado Cabello, Venezuela’s number two official and the leader of the Socialist party, announced his diagnosis on social media on Thursday evening and said he was in self-isolation. “We will prevail!!” tweeted the influential Chavista.

Jeanine Añez, Bolivia’s rightwing interim president, said she had received the same diagnosis. “I’ve tested positive for Covid-19,” tweeted Añez, who controversially took power after Evo Morales was forced into exile last year.

“I’m OK, I will work in isolation. Together, we will get through this.”

My one friend is planning to fly down and visit her parents in Texas in two weeks.  I'm really worried for her safety now...

Well yeah, you should be, if she's your one friend. :p

Seriously though, I hope she's ok.
