Stop demonizing Trump supporters.

Trump supporters aren't the only ones who lost their jobs dummy

Based on who had disproportionately lost their jobs (low income&poc) and people who disproportionately vote democratic (low income & poc) it simply doesn't track that trump supporters are the ones who work jobs "that mostly they want and nobody else does"

like show me the hotel maid who was out there protesting, or the restaurant dishwasher, not the white union welder with a $70k truck and thousands of dollars in arms attached to him

The difference might be that, in the current system at least, these jobs result in someone often being treated as a second class citizen or worse.  In a society with a higher quality of life and less prejudice this much less likely to be the case.  Anyone who's unjustly marginalized seems to have a healthy dislike of it.  For whatever reason, magas and similar ilk seem to think otherwise. Why would you say this is?

How are they treated like second class citizens? Or worse? And who are you talking about? You're lacking specifics so I'm unsure what you're actually trying to say

Hmmm... I just re-read my post and didn't see that assertion there.  Is there a reason why you're attempting to spin my point to divert the question back to me right now instead of owning up to answering it? Why do you think magas are/are in danger of being unjustly marginalized?

They're not, they're just attention starved children. They aren't marginalized in any way

Stop demonizing Trump supporters.

The thing to remember is that the vast majority of people who voted for Trump are not the "put a bullet in their skull" variety. 70 million people voted for Trump. Trump's vote among POC actually increased since 2016. They are not a monolith.

The point being, there is a base of people that the Democrats clearly do not speak to. Democrats need to be better.

I'm pretty sure we're demonizing the right subset of Trump supporters, not all of them. I assumed that was presumed going into this thread.

Also: 70 million people can be justifiably demonized, in theory. And those POC votes are sexist, racist minority men and culturally brainwashed minority women. I know many.

While I want to say fuck all Trump supporters, I can't say all of them are racist biggots.  Sadly most of the ones I know, in the Midwest, are victims of Fox news propaganda, and Christianity.  They lack self reflection in that they would never admit to themselves to being racist despite believing idealogies that demonstrate such--for example BLM vs. ALM. These people are operating under different definition of racism, strongly influenced by biases and tribalism.

I think we should be able to flip these people to our side or more moderate.

But then there are the huge subset of white supremacists.  Fuck them.

Nah... they're just cool with overt racism and don't mind being associated with open white supremacists. And don't get me started on the "People of color" who voted for Trump.

I am relieved Biden looks to be the winner. However 70 million voting for Trump makes this victory feel hollow. So 70 mil voters would actively support a fascist government.

Ignorance is negligence. Negligence is harm. Therefore, I don't give a shit that these grown adults are so easily duped. Explanation is not justification. But I like that you're trying. :p

I think what we need to do is work on getting rid of the stigma around sOciALiSm that exists in the country. I'm only 30 and I was taught in school that "socialism=communism=bad." Like, a few million people voted Libertarian this election. The majority of them are probably both anti authoritarian and anti socialist. I think those people can be reached.

Democrats running on a "we're not republicans" platform can only go so far, we're just going to do this again in 2 years

A win is a win... Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 and Republicans claimed he had a "mandate". I don't give a fuck that 70 million people voted for Trump. 72 million voted for Biden. That's all tha matters.

What does any of this have to do with people supporting an openly racist candidate in THIS country knowing its history?

Perhaps I myself just don't want want to believe that many people are cool with racism.  70 million confirmed, and definitely more, is just a staggering amount.

Breaking news: most of them are racist, or apathetic towards it. Both are bad positions. 70 million confirmed. I mean, 70 million people are cool re-voting for a president who got 230,000+ Americans killed on his watch. The verdict is in on them my friend. Accept the reality we live in, as hard as that may be.

Not belieiving it doesn't make it any less real... the sooner this country acknowledges some ugly truths the sooner we can do something about it. Racism (not just against Black people BTW) is ingrained in the DNA of this country... but fortunately so is OVERCOMING racism. You can overcome it unless you acknowledge it exists.

Whatever their reasons for voting his ticket are, Trump supporters of all walks of life showed the non grayscale world that they suck at middleschool history class knowledge.  They're either ruled by self-interest, or have terribly unevolved critical thinking skills. There might've been hope for one time Trump supporters, but it's extremely difficult to give any benefit of the doubt to anyone who remained on board, and there will be long term effects of this for some time.

Your second point...do you think Biden is a radical democrat?  The base you're hinting sounds like republicans at best which is kinda the opposite of what democrats are about.  Are you saying anyone who voted for Trump twice would be in favor of social democratic policies?

I really just have no personal experience of it.  I have friends who've told stories, but I've never witnessed anything for myself because I'm white.

But yeah this is right and I was trying to say it from a different angle.  These people have a different definition of racism because we don't acknowledge it properly.   That is a huge problem and the place we need to start course correcting.
