I want to believe this will fuck Trump over, but I refuse to believe so until he's finally behind bars.

More likely that he gets a deal that he pleads guilty to something minor and pulls out of the race in exchange for no jail time with a pardon in 2024 in some back room deal.

and honestly, it’s not enough, but it’ll do.

give him that offer, hope he accepts, and let Georgia seal the asshole’s fate in jail with their state case against him.

Making such a deal wouldn't work in my opinion.  Plus, such a decision would be inherently political.  Better to just let the legal process play out.

No bro he knows what he's talking about, today's character is a constitutional scholar.

meh, if the run for office/presidency isnt allowed to shield him this time then his lawyers will go into full delay/stall mode…. Trump will go to jail 5 years after being dead and cremated…

Just put an urn full of TANG in a cell and call it a day…

Trump has already gifted us Gaetz, MTG, Bobert, and almost Lake

I mean, most of this is inherently political, they want him out of the race (with good reason). I just don’t see the federal government putting a president in prison. I’d like to, but I’m not counting on it.

don’t you have cars to cry about, or unmasked people to worry about? Your obsession with my opinions is getting really weird at this point. Maybe you should get that checked.

Its not really political at all, if he did the normal thing and just returned all the documents then yeah thats a political thing where any normal person would have been bent right over, but he didn't do that, he openly defied orders to return the material, this is just straight up law and order stuff now.  Theres also zero downside for the democratic party to go alone with it either, as plenty of GOPers do just want him gone even if they'd vote for him in the general, and the people who'd really care are already too far gone.

If anything its a net positive that theres a chance presidents might go to jail if they're complete corrupt turds.

Yup! Many of the republican leadership would rather have him as a "martyr" then an active player, no matter what they are saying publicly.

I wish this were the case, (regarding this being 'straight up law and order stuff now') but I don't think it is.

Honestly, I think any time you're applying the law to a politician, you're doing something that is inherently political, because the manner of its application will always have political consequences.

I'm reminded of Comey's re-opening of the investigation into Hillary right before the election.  Even if one believes (inaccurately) that Comey had legally justifiable reasons to do so, it's naive to suggest the question of whether it should have been done and when it should have been done wasn't at least partly a political decision. (a very bad one, too, I might add)

But I also think just because it is political doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.  And I agree that the downside is minimal for the Democrats.  Especially since it looks like there's more substance to these charges than there was with the Russia collusion stuff.

What does he mean "wins my case?" Wasn't this before the document stuff became public? Some other "case?"

Only Trump could offer a quote as perfect as....

"This is secret information. Look, look at this."

I like to see what the real crazies think once in a while. This is is one of the LESS unhinged posts about this topic that I’ve seen, and it’s completely delusional nonsense.

I would hope that everyone in these forums are at least being surveilled.

Two lawyers who represented Donald Trump in the months before the former president was indicted on federal charges over his handling of classified documents quit working for him Friday morning.

The attorneys, Jim Trusty and John Rowley, did not explain in detail why they had resigned, other than to say that “this is a logical moment” to do given his indictment Thursday in U.S. District Court in Miami.

Trump first announced the lawyers were no longer representing him in a post on his Truth Social social media post.

Trump said he would now be represented by Todd Blanche, a New York lawyer who already was representing him in another criminal case in Manhattan Supreme Court. Trump is charged in the state grand jury indictment there with falsifying business records related to a hush money payment to porn Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 presidential election.

What are the odds he didn't have much a nefarious purpose than showing cool classified stuff to his dumb rich guy friends?  Kind of like how he'd handle foreign affairs during dinner service at his resorts so his people could see.  Every recording comes out just portrays him as a rich dumb guy who never had consequences.

Then he's an even bigger idiot than we thought.
