Joe Biden's Inauguration

I still don’t know why anyone thought he wouldn’t.  Only six presidents actively chose not to run for re-election.  Besides, I imagine it would be a huge benefit to dems to NOT have to do a primary campaign and focus purely on the election itself.

I'd argue it would be easier for him to win re-election than for Harris or somebody else to win their first term. Especially if his approval rating is high.

He can step down after that if age catches up with him.

My main issue is that I still don't see Kamala Harris winning a general election, and "guess who takes over if he dies" could be an honest campaign talking point if Biden runs again. Assuming he even lives through this term.

I don't like how Democrats keep being expected to pick the most centrist assholes to run for president while the Republicans keep getting further and further right. I think Bernie has proven that you don't snare more Republicans in by appealing to the center, you snare them in by appealing to the poor. Medicare for all, higher minimum wages, all that jazz. That's what wins people over. Not saying "I'm basically just like your Republicans but I'm okay with gay marriage." When Republicans and Democrats have basically the same economic policy only Republicans are appealing to Jesus-lovers, guess who the Jesus-lovers are going to pick. However, if you market to those jesus-lovers and tell them how you can make their lives better, they do respond, even without the abortion bullshit.

I love when people of Facebook post stuff like this to show how much he has accomplished:

I am making this post so it will show back up as a future memory on my timeline:
Today is last day president Donald J. Trump will be in office.Gasoline is currently $2.69 per gallon. Interest rates are 2.25 percent for a 30 year mortgage. The stock market closed at 30829.40 though we have been fighting COVID for 11 months. Our GDP growth for the 3rd Qtr was 33.1 percent. We had the best economy ever until COVID and it is recovering well. We have not had any new wars or conflicts in the last 4 years. North Korea has been under control and has not been testing any missiles. ISIS has not been heard from for over 3 years. The housing market is the strongest it has been in years. Homes have appreciated at an unbelievable rate and sell well. And let’s not forget
that peace deals in the Middle East were signed by 4 countries—unprecedented!
Unemployment sits at 6.7% in spite of COVID.
Biden takes over on 1-20-21. Let's see how this will work out.
THIS WILL BE SOMETHING TO WATCH....
Copy and share..if you would like.

It is just so easy to pick apart and brings me joy when it is deleted.

How much is the cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline going to end up costing Canada?

Not much since it wasn't likely to ever be used much. If the demand for oil from Canada (especially tar sands) continued to expand then it would, but that's not likely now. There simply isn't much industry demand for new pipelines, but the western Canadian conservative politicians demand they be built in order to virtue signal how much they have a hard-on for oil.

I've seen this on Facebook, but the gas is cheaper, so people are tweaking it some I guess.

TECHNICALLY it's the 22nd year. :p

No it's not. The last year of the 20th century would have been the year 2000, as the twentieth century would be years 1901-2000, so the first year of the twenty-first century would be 2001, second year of it would be 2002, third 2003, and so on.

There is no year 0, so the first century is years 1-100.

Yes I know. That doesn't dispute what I said. The first century is 1-100, so the second is 101-200, all the way to the twentieth which would be 1901-2000, and be twenty-first being 2001-2100

And yet we record decades as 2000-2009, 2010-2019, etc.

Yeah but whatever; just easier to refer to things as the '70s, '80s, '90s, etc. :p

Not like we're referring to them as the first, second, third, one hundred ninety fifth decade :p

I was agreeing with you by just explaining why you're right in as few words as possible. See, @stepee this matter is now settled.
