Joe Biden beats Donald Trump, officially making Trump a one-term twice impeached, twice popular-vote losing president

$200 tax stamps are rich white man's burden.  That won't help the gun violence problem at all where it counts the most, in our inner cities.

The only thing that would put a significant dent in inner city shooting would be to completely outlaw handguns, nationwide, and even then there are enough lying around now to continue the killing for another 20 years.

You know, I was skeptical of the notion that the politics of the democratic nominee didn't matter much for the attacks Republicans would try. In some sense that's true, but the attempt to smear Biden as a socialist are so laughably bad that I think I was wrong. It would appear to matter very much that nobody actually believes Biden is this socialist Trojan horse.

...despite that being the actual literal campaign.

We'll see what happens in November, but Biden is a known entity. This isn't Kerry who most Americans didn't know or Clinton who was already hated and they spent 30 years making a villain. I suspect Biden is perceived generally as a imperfect good guy who believes in doing the right thing, he isn't gonna run us off a cliff and is probably going to delegate a lot to experts. 🤷‍♂️ That's sorta what you want?

Teens "going to war" with Trump over administration's remarks about banning TikTok.

Quote

But young people are looking for ways to make their voices heard, even if some of them can’t yet vote. Last month, many young people organized through TikTok to sign up to attend Trump’s first post-shutdown campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but then didn’t show up. The Trump campaign denied the online organizing effort contributed to lower-than-expected attendance.

Anecdotally, even in Canada teenagers are excited at the prospect of doing anything they can to help take down Trump. This article mostly refers to efforts to review-bomb the Trump apps, but I imagine we'll be seeing more concerted efforts to interfere with data collection and event bookings, etc.

TikTok is absolutely not something worth fighting for.

Good news, everyone, Trump supports absentee ballots...just not mail-in ballots!

I mean it's not funny that he is developmentally/intellectually disabled in some way, but it also kind of is.

"Voting privilege"

I imagine a Starship Trooper future, but instead of military service you have to work five years without pay at Mar-a-lago as a caddie or a maid.

I wish we could just have the election now. I think Biden would win and Trump's reign would be over. I believe Biden will probably win, but there is plenty of time for Trump to come back and a lot can happen.

November 4-January 20 is gonna be fucking wild, especially if the GOP also lose the Senate.

Trump will try to declare martial law if that happens.  Or anything he can think of to keep himself from giving up the office.

More likely they'll try all sorts of fuckery like in Wisconsin: Quickly pass new laws limiting the incoming person's powers. Luckily the Dems control the House.

I could see maybe a mass resigning & replacement of any conservative judges that are near retirement age that haven't already been replaced, since that's one thing that they could do without involving the House. If they controlled both houses of Congress, you're right, they absolutely would run the Wisconsin playbook and try and kneecap the power of the presidency.

They can try, but I have a feeling that a lot of these judges won't resign.

That will still happen, but Nancy will allow it if they send out a free candy bar to everyone or some shit.
