b_m_b_m_b_m
I get the want to make sure that people with a few kids and high income don't get "some" money but there's an easier way to do it: accelerating the drop off for benefits after a certain income threshold. It's fucking popular as hell as it is. Don't make it less popular than what trump did! These people would fuck up a wet dream
Guest
Taking easy wins and turning them into losses is very on brand for the modern Democratic Party.

Chairslinger
I wondered why they are "compromising" on this right after mostly foreclosing on any GOP support for the bill and then I realized this is probably the scalp Manchin wants as the price for his support. He has been going on about more targeted relief since the beginning.

And as @Jason just said, this is all based on 2019 tax returns. Sure, my wife and I's combined income was straight cut by 40% due to the pandemic, but we've got to means test everything in this country because reasons. outsida
This whole controversy over $2000 vs $1400 checks is stupid and concern trolling.
Ominous
If you want to "stimulate" the economy just give everyone the name amount of money and disregard the income caps. Most people will find something to spend the money on. Looking at income and credit for years I can say that for the majority of Americans the more they make the more they spend. High income earners love to spend every penny just like low income earners are forced to spend every penny.
Air_Delivery
I'd love for someone who advocates using a NON COVID years tax return to explain how it has any bearing on now.
Brian
Lol so someone who got $600 for the first round may get $0 the second.
Air_Delivery
I'll get 0 if they do that. Not a big deal to me but still isn't the point that people lost their jobs? Why should it matter how much they made when they had jobs?

stepee
People here are forgetting that there are those of us who barely worked in 2019 but wouldn’t qualify now and they want a new tv with vrr capability.
marioandsonic
I'd still qualify regardless of which year's tax returns they base it on.
SuperSpreader
None of this affects me but I'm super annoyed they haven't just made it $2k/mo for everyone with some options to return it for a tax break.
Fizzzzle
I've been busted down to either unemployed or part time since March, but I wouldn't qualify

They went with "UNITY OUT THE WINDOW" as their big lead story online today. They are completely and utterly lacking in all self awareness. I can't believe ANYONE is stupid enough to take anything they say or do seriously. Their tactics are so painfully obvious and right out in the open. They don't even try to hide it. They know their audience is too stupid to see through their bullshit. They know this because it's true. And we know it's true because it's clearly working.
