What are you playing today?

Recommended Posts

I’ve been dipping in to Golf Story - which I’m still enjoying and a tiny bit of Links Awakening. After a week of planning and recording lessons then teaching on Friday, today has been a sleepy day. Tomorrow I’m hoping to smash through a load of work, house work, gardening and a walk before the afternoon - then get a few hours of gaming in when the baby is snoozing.

I started Persona 5, which I have quite enjoyed so far. It feels like Haruki Murakami wrote a game about high school students.

God damn if it isn’t slow as shit though, I’m 4+ hours in and it’s basically still the tutorial.

Persona is cool though, that Sword of the Seven Stars: Trails of Heart Tears VIII stuff y’all needs play is not.

Don’t be ridiculous. Heart Tears VIII isn’t out until July.

I played through Persona 4 Golden and loved it, but I think that was enough Persona for me. I started 5 and got through the first dungeon and thought “this is fun, but do I really want to play another 90 hours of this?”

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

I am back to really liking this game -- three of the early areas are very repetitive with only basic mobs -- and a story line that didn't grab me featuring

Spoiler

Ceolbert/Ivarr

However, I am back to really enjoying playing it.  There are some bigger cities, some more interesting environments and the combat is getting much more enjoyable -- even though it is way too easy.

Hades

Didn't play it for a few weeks, and finally did my first successful run.  Not sure how much more of it I will play.

Persona 5 intimidates me to play because of the epic amount of hours you must put in to it to beat it.

Didn't you beat horse simulator and AC:Valhalla?

Im going to start control today, a bit of destruction All-Stars, and im going to check out the God of War performance mode, see how it looks and feels, because the framerate was dogshit a lot of the time on ps4.

I beat rdr2 but I'm still playing valhalla. Persona 5 from what I read it extremely long and also not really my type of game.

That's awesome you get to check out Control and GOW with the updates.

Its not longer than rdr2. But if its not your type of game, then its not worth your time. I really like it, but i play jrpg's in the background, a couple of hours here and there. P5 is definitely the best jrpg ive played in quite a while.

I thought it took like 100 hours to beat persona 5? The reviews are fantastic so this game isn't completely off my radar. I may end up trying it soon actually.

More FFIX today.  Some of the art feels surprisingly intricate and dark for the game its in.

It's what I'm appreciating most about it.  It would have been easy to just make it look simpler and cheerier as a throwback to earlier FF's.  But they lean in on making the world feel imposing.  Even in a game with talking rats, dogs and fish people.

Man, Days Gone is really addictive. The various encampments, towns etc. are really well designed and feel more like actual levels from TLoU in scope and design. It's just a lot of fun to play and I actually dig the B-movie vibe and dialog and that it doesn't seem to take itself super seriously.

Yet another hugely pleasant surprise, there's been a lot of those in the PS4 library for me.

@best3444 already commented but yeah, that looks fantastic. This game is over 20 years old...

I found it had to much busy work and traveling just to lengthen the experience.

I've never finished an open world game outside of Death Stranding so I'm sure I'll eventually get my fill and drop off. I loved The Witcher 3 for a certain amount of time as well and when I had my fill I was done for now.
