What games do you hope to get around to in 2021?

Anyone else have any gaming resolutions for the new year?  I won't be building a PC or getting a current gen console anytime soon, so it's going to be another big backlog year.

Beat another Final Fantasy:  I've finished 4-7, FF7R and FFXIII.  But I own the whole rest of the series outside of FFXII, and the MMO ones (which aren't for me).  Thinking of starting with either FFIX (w/ upscaled backgrounds) or FFX remastered.

Use my Switch more:  Hopefully a new Switch model will be released, so I'll be more motivated to play Torna and Age of Calamity.  Otherwise, it might be time to give Mario & Rabbids a good go.  I'm almost done with Hades now.

Polish off the Wii U: Almost done with Captain Toad.  Still need to get around to Tropical Freeze.

Retro stuff:  I've been slowly but steadily making my way through Yoshi's Island.  I'd like to play Castlevania SoTN for the first time in 2021 too.  Been eying Alundra and Minish Cap as well.

Sony catch-up (Part 2):  I beat most of the Uncharted series from scratch in 2020, as well as remakes of the first Ratchet, Crash and Sypro.  Still have a lot left:  SoTC, Last of Us, Horizon, finishing up GoW, etc.  I just got Ghosts as a Christmas as well... but no PS5 so I might wait on it.

I'm hoping to tackle the two Ass. Creed games in my backlog, Odyssey and Valhalla. Also to continue attacking the various Souls and Souls like games in my backlog. I have a current run on Dark Souls 2 I need to get back to. I want to give my Switch more love as well... finally dig into Breath of The Wild and Hades. Play more VR games which should be easy now that two of my real life friends both have Quests. We're already planning some game nights. Go back and beat some Sony games that I need to finish... Horizon, Bloodborne and the expansions for Last of Us and Uncharted that I own. Those are my initial "gaming goals" for 2021.

I'm waiting until all the DLC is out for Valhalla before I play it, which is supposed to be all out by around August, so I'm looking forward to that.

I'm finally going to stay with a city in Cities: Skylines long enough to hit 100k population. I always abandon my cities around 50-70k because I start to go "I could have done that better" or "I like this map more" and start over. NOT THIS TIME. Well, maybe this time. BUT NOT NEXT TIME.

I'd like to play Nier Automata, Outward, Final Fantasy X/X-2, and FFVIIR if it comes out on PC. Oh and Horizon.

I've had Days Gone sitting here for a while unopened.   Whenever I can get ahold of a PS5, I'll play it..

I put down my Horizon Zero Dawn playthrough months ago, I'll go ahead and finish that off before the sequel drops.

I. . .might play Cyperpunk 2077 next year. . .maybe,  My interest has really faded on that game.

I hope to use my mini/classic consoles more; I have them all.

I want to buy Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Spider-Man, Control and Doom Eternal on the PS4.

On Switch, Luigi's Mansion 3, Fire Emblem, Smash, Astral Chain and a steady stream of Indie games to play. Also I would like a Pro Controller so I can play some games on the television without being hampered by the joy cons - which I neither hate nor love. Possibly Crash and Spyro as I’ve never played any of the games before and they’d suit handheld play.

Get this instead if you want to save some money.  Might be able to find it cheaper than that if you search around.

You joking? If not, why haven't you played it? Not the greatest Zelda ever but certainly the most ambitious. I played over 100 hours but never beat Ganon.

Not joking. I’m not really one for these “open world” games. So much to do, see, conquer...it’s kind of overwhelming.

I’ll get around to it. Eventually. Hopefully.

I recently revised my physical list of games I’d like to beat, paired it down quite a bit.

Current priorities are FF7 Remake, Spider-Man and Miles Morales, No Man’s Sky (I’ve played it quite a bit but never really dug in), and then I’m playing around with getting the platinum in MK11 (just the base game). I can’t think of what else is on there.

Edit: oh duh hades

I plan on trying out a different game each day from my backlog. I also want to Platinum at least 1 game a month.

Day 1-  Zaccaria Pinball

Day 2- Tera

Day 3- The Last Guardian

I'll never understand the allure of platinums, or trophies and achievements in general.

The Last Guardian is on my radar due to the PS5 PS+ library now as well, looking forward to playing that.

In general, I'd actually like to play more retro games again this year. Playing Alundra has been so cool, I forget how much I loved that era sometimes.

Edit: Yeah, add FF7 Remake to the list as well as a priority. I also can't wait to replay several of my PS4 favorites with improved performance, that'll be a treat.

If you want a performance increase on FF7RE you'll likely not see one as it's locked at 30. If you wait till April you could see if they release some sort of enhanced or definitive version of it though.

I actually meant just in general, it's a game I've been meaning to play. I enjoyed the demo much more than I expected. I'm in no rush so I'll definitely see if they announce an enhanced edition.

I'm looking forward to a lot this year. I'm sure some will get pushed back (I have no faith in GoW coming this year), but it's still gonna be great. Hitman 3, Ratchet, Halo, Horizon, Schreier (probably spelled that wrong) seems to believe FFXVI is coming this year. BotW2 looks likely. Maybe finally a new Metroid

All this talk of Alundra on here of late really makes me think I should get around to it in 2021 as well.
