What are you playing today?

Eastward, which is a kooky Zelda style game with influences from Earthbound. It’s a game pass game I downloaded out of nowhere, and I’m loving it. It’s the perfect type of game to play on backbone and steamdeck.

its a lot of fun. I suggest anyone who likes top down adventure give it a shot.

I'm finally working my way through my current backlog and today's game is FF: Stranger of Paradise. I dropped off from playing earlier this year this for some reason, but I'm having fun with what is on offer. Its a simple game, but it feels good and has plenty of style.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

I always read the title of this game as Fire Emblem: Tree Houses.

I never even heard of this game until you mentioned it here, so I skimmed some gameplay videos of it and it looks like something that I would really like. Unfortunately, it’s not on PS4. :(

Yeah, it's great. After you finish the game, the new game plus includes a chapter select if you missed anything. If you care about Earthborn, getting the true ending in Earthborn can be tough.

For me, I usually try to play one game on my PS5 on the TV in the living room and then a second game for when I'm at my desktop PC instead. Currently:

-Triangle Strategy (PC)

-God of War: Ragnarok (PS5)

-Horizon Forbidden West (long game, will go back to it after Ragnarok)

-Borderlands 3 (on PC - when me, my two younger brothers, and a friend can get together to play it, two thirds done)

-Dying Light 1 (on PC - when me and my two younger brothers can get together to play it, halfway done)

Recently beat:

-Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga - Volume 1 (via PC emulation with multiple excellent HD texture packs added on)

-Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II - The Sith Lords (on PC via Steam with all story content mods added on)

-Star Wars: Jedi - Fallen Order (on PC via Steam)

Possibly on deck when I wrap up Triangle Strategy and Ragnarok (depends on my mood at the time I pick a game):

-Pentiment

-Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together - Reborn

-Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - Reunion

-The Callisto Protocol

-Dead Space remake

With the Resident Evil 4 remake just around the corner I decided to play the HD remake again through Steam on my PC. THE CONTROLS PISS ME OFF they are pretty terrible, much worse than I remembered anyway. That said it's still a great game and I'm starting to get into it.  Just got to the presidents daughter and I'm confident that I will beat this one lol.

I'm also playing {2 hours in} Salt and Sanctuary on Steam Deck. It's really hard I know it's supposed to be but these game really kick my ass and always will. I picked it up last weekend for 6 bucks.

I just bought Resident Evil Zero for a few bucks last night. It looks great, it controls well but man, I was two hours in and gave up. This partner system is so obnoxious, the item management sucks ass and is them completely overthinking something that did not need to change and already worked well. First boss fight is a giant...Scorpion! On a train! Okay, no, I'm good.

I just replayed RE1 Remake and that game is a masterpiece so I expected this to be at least a chip off that block. It's just fucking annoying.

I played it somewhat recently as well, and I completely agree. I gave up playing it shortly after reaching the mansion.

You've never played Zero? It's generally considered bottom tier of RE games. You came in with lofty expectations my friend. :p

Not I always avoided it because of that but figured hey, I'll finally try it for $4 or whatever it was...how bad can it be hot on the heels of RE1R!?

Even the basic act of shooting the zombies feels somehow noticeably worse. Weird game.

Playing Modern Warfare 2 campaign and was having fun until I hit the 7th mission which is all in a helicopter with a birds eye view, if you played a COD before, you know the mission type. I hate this shit and it’s not fun at all. It’s so slow and plodding and all Im doing is watching the AI have fun instead of me. it went on so long that I was getting angry it was so boring.

I was so happy to see it end, I just wanted it to be over with so my next play session will be better. Then the NEXT FUCKING MISSION IS THE SAME THING. What in the world were they thinking with this. Why this huge chunk of this tired ass gameplay interrupting the flow here. Had to turn it off because it was just going to ruin my mood at that point it was so actively boring.

I moved to playing on deck to try to stomach through the second one of those missions while watching and glad I did that as that one was even more brutal as it was difficult as well with it’s specific conditions.

Now the very next mission is this slow stealth sniper mission where mortars can one shot you and you have to move after every shot.

Holy pacing issues, my opinion of this game is plummeting the more I play it at this point. I thought I would just be going through and doing fun fps fire fights or something not whatever is going on at this point.

After playing 2018 and then going right into Ragnarök I got burned out on his Kratos ass. I’ll go back eventually but for now it was a bit to much.

I'll accept that. Like my relationship to Alloy. Just be sure to finish it because it's a masterpiece.

Merry Christmas, brotha.  🎄

Okay actually that section wasn’t that bad and that level was quite good overall. I was just in a sour mood still from the previous two levels. And then all the other levels after it and to the end where good as well. So Im happy with it overall and consider it one of the “good” COD campaigns. But man those two levels still sucked so bad and the fact that they were back to back it was too noticeable so I’d give it like a 7.5/10.

There are some super fun levels here though, some great spectacle. Like hanging upside down from a rope dangling from a helicopter shooting enemy’s on trucks then cutting the rope and landing on a truck then jumping to a jeep and hijacking it. Shit like that is why I come to these and there is a healthy amount of it.

I started playing God of War: Ragnarok, and as expected I’m really enjoying it. The graphics are some of the best (if not the best) that I’ve seen for a PS4 game, and it has been nonstop action and excitement since I started playing with a great cinematic story and fun melee combat.
