I’m sort of with the player on this one. He spent more then enough time on the bench or pre-game warmups with others throughout the day. So a few hours of exposure was already there, so I’m ok with him spending a few more minutes for their moment of glory

Yeah, there are lots of people who were on the field who didn’t know they were being exposed to somebody with Covid on a scenario in which everybody was supposed to be operating in a bubble.

So Turner had already violated some protocol to have come down with it, and then defied the leave and the CBA again putting others at risk without their knowledge or consent. Not cool behavior, but super on brand for a thirty something American.

With the details of Trump's infection still murky, the use of "after the election" immediately calls into question the exact timeline.

Seems like another potential scandlet if Meadows kept it a secret to avoid affecting the election and spread it during that time.

🤷‍♂️

Look, here is the unfortunate reality: Biden will not likely be able to control the spread in the US. Even in places that have much better leadership (and better initial support from citizens), the virus is rapidly spreading again. But he will be able to at least help out the states who are taking it more seriously, as well as provide a central message.

A lot of Asian countries seem to be doing fine.

No Asian country had the sort of spread we are seeing in the west, particular in the US and France. No putting the genie back in the bottle.

One problem is that now that Trump has really primed his followers to reject simple safety measures they are likely to refuse to do them just to spite Joe.

Like, by and large the left side of the aisle is going to follow them either way. Trump would have had more of a "Nixon goes to China" authority with his base, which is just generally more anti-government to begin with, if he ever choose to tell them to follow the guidelines. Now, anything Joe says will make them emphatically do the opposite just out of spite.

Imagine if they'd let USPS send out those masks with a signed note from Trump that it's everyone's bigly patriotic duty to wear those masks.

Portland is going into a slightly increased lockdown on Wednesday. No more than 50 people inside restaurants, gyms, etc including staff (most places can't fit more than that inside, anyway, if they have social distancing measures in place). No gatherings of more than 6 people (down from 10).

It honestly really doesn't change much.

It likely wouldn't matter. I actually think what you are going to see when we look back on things over the next few years is that masks provided a false sense of security for people in the west, and they engaged in behavior that was very risky because of it. You can see the same in much of Europe, including places that had higher mask utilization than the US. We needed to be physically distant, not hang out inside for hours but with masks on.

Just having this idea is already more than Trump has actually done. Already getting to work.

Sadly true.  We were dealt the absolute worst cards to enter a pandemic with and unlike his bff Boris, ours pushed the narrative of this virus being of absolutely no importance after contracting it.  The fact Biden is making this his first, and top priority is refreshing.  The laws may limit his abilities as to what he can do, but he can do everything Democrats were begging for such as increased testing and the manufacturing of PPE.  It's a miracle to think next year, states will no longer have to bid against each other for the supplies necessary to protect their medical workers.
