CastletonSnob Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Let's take a trip down memory lane and post video game commercials you remember from your childhood. 1 Quote
skillzdadirecta Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 I remember this one... it was stupid even back then Quote

I honestly don't remember ever seeing video game commercials on TV, and I never missed Saturday Morning Cartoons. I can remember stupid Bubblicious gum commercials, cereal commercials, toy commercials, McDonald's commercials, etc like they were yesterday, but I can't bring to mind a single game commercial besides this fucking stupid Zelda one. LazyPiranha Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 I swear this damn thing was on every commercial break after school. Quote
dualhunter Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 In response to Sega's "Welcome to the next level" ads, Nintendo had Star Fox ads that said "Why go to the next level when you can go light years beyond?" Quote

I haven’t seen any of these. I guess Canada never got video game commercials Quote

GameDadGrant Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 This wasn’t really from my “childhood” (I may have been in my late teens or early 20s) but when I think of old game commercials, this one pops into my head every time. 2 Quote
silentbob Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 it’s all I saw before my mom surprised me with the Genesis bundle above for Xmas this played in front of a movie from years and years ago at the theatre I eventually worked at. 1 Quote
GameDadGrant Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 There was something eerie and off putting to me about this one when I was a kid. Sure drives home the idea that Metroid is pretty much their “darkest” IP. Quote
chakoo Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 While i'm a bit old oddly it's the N64 commercials I remember the most even though I was in my teens by then. The oldest commercial I can remember seeing on TV was the Final Fantasy 3 one but other than that I don't really remember many commercials from the nes/snes era other than what's been posted online. 57 minutes ago, GameDadGrant said: This wasn’t really from my “childhood” (I may have been in my late teens or early 20s) but when I think of old game commercials, this one pops into my head every time. Oh man I still remember this one. I wanted the game, helped along by Tokyo Wars being amazing in the arcades but I never got it. 1 Quote
Paperclyp Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 I must have been very impressionable at the time cuz I remember a lot of N64 / PS1 era ones but not many others. The PS3 weird ones in the small room with like the levitating baby stuck with me. And of course Gears 1 was a big marketing success. Quote
silentbob Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 I loved the game but I remember being disturbed by this old lady at the end 1 Quote
GameDadGrant Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Weird no one has posted this one yet. It’s a stone cold classic. Quote
ort Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 I still get this song stuck in my head 30 years later... 1 Quote
Chairslinger Posted March 16, 2022 Posted March 16, 2022 It's dripping with the 90's cliche of everything being EXXXXXTREEME!!!! but this commercial always made me laugh....especially the end with the blinker..... 1 Quote
Dre801 Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 I was a hardcore PS1 gamer back then, but this commercial made me want an N64. Quote

GameDadGrant Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 There was this old N64 commercial that was boasting about how many games it had and were coming to the platform. But I can't find footage of it. This is the closest I came to finding anything. Quote

I seem to recall one of my older brothers getting it, and told my other brother and I we needed to watch this. We were so excited at the prospect of rumble in a video game, especially towards the end when the guys in the ad talk about feeling the rumble. We kept imagining what the rumble would feel like, and how it would impact the game. "Like you're actually IN the game!" Nostalgia is a powerful drug. 1 Quote
gamer.tv Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Less a commercial, but my friend has the N64 promo video on VHS, that we must have watched about 100 times. Quote
SuperSpreader Posted March 18, 2022 Posted March 18, 2022 Y'all old AF. I don't remember any of these. 1 Quote

The analog stick on my 3rd party controller hadn't failed yet when Star Fox 64 came out so I was still using it. Every now and then the rumble pak would rumble right out of the socket really ruining the experience. It was even worse with a 3rd party rumble pak (with 2x rumble and handy 4x memory card). Quote

Yup, There are sadly n64 games I still hold in high regards (Extreme G, Automobili Lamborghini) that most would be very meh over because they played them much later. It's kind of crazy because even better games on the system that I played much later I like less even though they are better game (Ridge Racer 64). Quote
