It’s hard to name 5 better games than Sekiro this year, so I will immediately be throwing out any list that has it outside that range.

I'm happy to see someone list Baba is You. It's one of the most inventive games I've ever played.

Happy to see Outer Wilds, which is probably my favorite this year.  I agree that the lack of RE 2 is baffling.  My favorites are probably those two, Ape Out, Control, and Luigi's Mansion 3.

I only played Sekiro and the demo for Neo Cab. 

 

These lists can get to fuck, not having RE2 there is a joke.

Sayonara Wild Hearts fucking blows and I'm mad I bought it. The levels are so short and with the exception of the song in the trailer the music is bland electronic noises. The gameplay is a sloppy temple run that doesn't interact with the rhythm at all. The game is absolute trash and everyone needs to know.

Astral Chain is inevitably going to be overlooked.  As a Switch exclusive by not-Nintendo, it’s not even hipster enough for the niche-friendly lists.

 

I’m still surprised Slay the Spire is being left out.

Anthem outsold SSBU? That's a surprise. It may have been deemed a failure, but Smash sold ~16M copies, maybe 5M were sold that first month, so that would put Anthem sales somewhere above 11M copies. Not entirely a flop I guess.

 

Glad to see Outer Wilds get recognized. I really should try some of these small games.

These numbers would exclude international sales as well.  I assume SSBU did very well in Japan relative to Anthem.

I suspect SSBU did much better in Dec' 18 than you are suggesting.

I missed that it was only the US. That changes things quite a bit.

It also doesn't include digital sales for Smash since Nintendo doesn't report on their own digital sales. That's what the asterisks is for.

 

These lists never include Nintendo's own digital sales.

Shenmue III almost made the top 10 on that Paste list. RE2 doesn't make the list but Yoshi's Crafted World makes #21.

ive briefly played gears 5, other than that nothing from the Post list. I’ve played 2 on the other and I didn’t get close to finishing Sekiro.
