The Official Thread of Systemic Racism

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if this story made national headlines, but a few years ago in Portland a man named Jeremy Christian was verbally abusing a woman on the MAX for wearing a hijab. Two good samaritans stood up and told him to knock it off. Christian proceeded to stab them both and kill them. The investigation revealed he has long standing ties to white supremacy.

He was convicted last month, and today was his sentencing, when during a victim panel, the following outburst from him took place:

Also mentioned in that article, the Shake Shack incident earlier this month where three cops were supposedly poisoned turned out to be fake.

Those cops didn't even get diarrhea from milk and sugar on a hot day! I am devastated.

Kimmel apologized for his Karl Malone makeup.

Kimmel's apology centers around himself. First off, he delayed this out of concern for those who would mark it as a win in their court. This means he does not have the respect or care of the Black community at the forefront of his thoughts. Second off, he lists the impressions and sketches as 'embarrassing.' He does not say he is sorry for the pain he inadvertently caused, or for being unaware of the racism inherent in coloring his skin differently, or for not educating himself on this earlier.

I do not believe Kimmel is being malicious with this or with the sketches. But this is a prime example of how white supremacy can be present in peoples' subconscious. And it is an example of how he still does not fully understand WHY what he did was hurtful or HOW it harmed people.

Kimmel has more to learn.

You don't even need makeup to do Karl Malone. Just wear a cowboy hat and drive a big rig and talk about car dealerships. He's like the redneck-est black man ever.

Right down to when he impregnated a 13 year old when he was 20. Then didn’t acknowledge the kid for a couple decades.

I loved Malone and Stockton when I was a kid. Finding out how awful Malone actually was ruined my childhood memories.

Wait, so he was plain clothes and buying from one of those Starbucks inside a Target? Why would the cashier at a Target Starbucks ever even see this guy's credit card? Like, if it was a drive-thru Starbucks, sure. One of those mini ones inside a Target store? This story is ridiculous. I bet he also forgot to save the entire thing to hold as evidence.

Trying to get lunch while black

A restaurant group has fired two managers and apologized for what the company calls "an incredibly disturbing incident" at one of its Baltimore eateries in which a black woman and her nine-year-old son were denied service due to the boy's clothing.  In a video posted lated Monday on social media, Marcia Grant said she and her child, Dallas, were repeatedly told by a manager at Ouzo Bay in Baltimore's Harbor East neighborhood that they could not eat there because of its dress code prohibiting athletic wear. The video, which shows Grant's son wearing sneakers, gym shorts and an Air Jordan T-shirt, also recorded another child, who was white, in a similar outfit at the end of his meal at an outside table.

"Dress codes" are one of the most common forms of discrimination btw as they are rarely consistently enforced.

Apparently, the restaurant was owned by the brothers from Ready or Not. Their family has a stake in Sinclair Broadcasting, also in Baltimore.   List below of more restaurants they own.

Demonstrations began in downtown Madison earlier Tuesday following the arrest of a Black protest organizer, who police say walked into a restaurant while speaking through a bullhorn and holding a baseball bat. Devonere Johnson, 28, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon but allegedly broke free from the back of a squad car. He was tackled to the ground as he attempted to escape, according to the incident report from the Madison Police Department.

Two officers suffered minor injuries during the alleged incident, while Johnson sustained abrasions to his arms and leg. Johnson has been tentatively charged with disorderly conduct while armed, resisting arrest and attempted escape, police said.

That night, protesters chanting for Johnson's release tore down the "Forward" statue and dragged it away from its base at the steps of the Wisconsin State Capitol, according to Madison ABC affiliate WKOW. The bronze allegorical statue, which is more than 100 years old, depicts a female figure standing on the prow of a boat, with her right hand stretched out while her left clasps the American flag.

A short time later, the same group pulled down a statue of Col. Hans Christian Heg and threw it into a nearby lake, according to WKOW. Heg was a Norwegian immigrant and abolitionist who served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He led the predominately-Scandinavian 15th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment into battle against the Confederate Army until his death at Chickamauga in 1863.
