Any recs on if I should go to Caelid (?) or Lakes next?

When it comes to scaling, Lakes is more at your level. Due to my way of doing things I did a huge amount of optional stuff in Lakes, went to a kinda hidden zone (not in lakes) which spat me out in Caelid, cleared out Caelid and killed the big boss there for a specific side quest, and then finally when back to lakes to beat the big boss there.

Just beat Godrick. That dude was tough. I'm about 17 hours in, level 37 going with a STR/DEX build. I'm pretty sure I cleared out everything in Limgrave.

Caelid is one of the hardest zones in the game. I'm level 125 now and there are still a few enemies there that will clap my cheeks.

Real pros beat the duelist knights of the great jar by making them all yeet themselves to death. Not a finger lifted, not a fuck given.

Damn. I just went back and took them out this morning, now that I'm like 50 levels higher than when I first met them. :p

I accidently stumbled in to Caelid around level 15 and got instantly demolished so I figured it was for higher level but didn't know it was near endgame.

Been playing the Lakes area the past few hours and holy moly is this area massive. I knew this game was huge but wow.

Man the game was absolutely brutal until I got to around a level 15 character.  After getting absolutely destroyed in Stormveil Castle by literally everything, I grinded through and finally beat most of it. Now when I roam around the rest of Limgrave, with a character level in the 20s,I dispatch enemies much easier.  I probably should have explored and grinded more before entering the castle, and I definitely think I permanently lost several huge chunks of runes early on before I realized I needed them to level up my character.  Getting more health has been absolutely critical to make the game more fun.

Now I just hope to find some badass skills and weapons... and this is leading me to literally explore every square inch of an area.

Alright so I gotta say I don't know how some of you guys marathon these open world epics regularly. I fucking love this game and even despite that I'm totally out of steam right now and have to put it down for a while just because of the amount I've been playing. I rarely play open world games but when I do, I tend to burn out around the 60 hour mark and never got back so far but hey, I've made it to about 110 hours here so far at least!

I really liked Witcher 3 at first, like a lot, and even there I burnt out completely at around the 60 hour mark and never went back.

Im the same way. Massive open world games I usually have to play in two chunks with like a month or two break in between.

I just remember quite a few posters on here marathoning games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla and I can't even do it with Elden Ring, a game I absolutely love for the most part. I realized last night that I need to take a full break because I was starting to rush through things and getting legit frustrated.

Think I'm gonna dip back into Returnal for the DLC content while also playing Hunt.

Nothing wrong with taking a break. I attempted to yesterday with Forbidden West but all I was thinking about was exploring more in Elden Ring. Game has its grips on me!

I was today years old when I was in the middle of fighting Rennala Queen of what whatever and I realized I never got the summoning bell at all! I go to the location where you're supposed to get it but homegirl isn't showing up anymore. I had to go to the Roundtable Hold and someone sells it there. Well.... that would have made so many fights easier.

I went down in the Ainsel River and boy rotten breath sure does a number on that boss.

I hate when I get summoned to help with a boss fight and people barf dragon clouds everywhere, I inevitably get merc’d from inside the vape smoke.

Definitely not early game,

I beat the boss there at 68. Considering I beat the game at level 169, Caelid was late early game for me. That boss was also the second great rune boss I fought. As in the boss after Godrick.

That's the beauty of these games you can tackle it wherever/however you like. I did a bunch of other stuff first dealing with scarlet rot was annoying early on. I also hate fighting on horseback (it feels like shit imo) so maybe that's why

Jumping needs to remain in their titles, however, jumping attacks need to be removed and instead plunging attacks should make their return as long has you meet the height requirement. The attack speed of Great and Ultra Great needs to be buffed as well as their standard attacks are slower and weaker than jumping attacks so you have every strength user playing this game like it's fucking Mario.

What’s the difference between a Rune Arc, and equipping a Great Rune at a site of grace?

All the online stuff I read is all about equipping Great Runes via a Rune Arc, so is equipping them at a site of grace just a tease?

You can only equip a Great Rune from a site of grace. To activate the effects of the Great Rune you must consume a Rune Arc. If you have ever played a Dark Souls game it is similar to the humanity system.

Ah that makes a lot more sense. Equip at site, and then consume with Rune Arc. And similar to humanity, I'm guessing it wears off when you die.
