The memo was posted online by the GOP consulting firm behind a pro-DeSantis super PAC.

Quote

The memo offers "four basic must-dos" for DeSantis at the debate: "1. Attack Joe Biden and the media 3-5 times. 2. State (DeSantis') positive visions 2-3 times. 3) Hammer Vivek Ramaswamy in a response. 4) Defend Trump in absentia in response to a Chris Christie attack."

It’s really amazing to note that if these morons stuck to the script after January 6th, they wouldn’t need to worry about Trump’s insane lead.

They should have been calling Trump a loser who lost to Sleepy Joe Biden, cost them the House, and cost them the Senate TWICE with his “picks”, but no, they immediately crawled back to him and now the Republican base mostly believes that the election was stolen, so you can’t even use THAT line of attack now.

Instead, everyone but Christie and Pence are still groveling at his feet. Those two will EVENTUALLY fall in line with the “Trump is bad but he's better than Biden” line.

Interesting that Ramaswamy stands out as a target.

I agree with bm_bm_bm that he would probably be the best General election candidate for the GOP.  Seems I'm not the only one.

Of course, it's highly improbable he gets the nomination, but what the hell does 'highly improbable' mean nowadays, when you've got an orange-skinned  quadruple-indicted insurrectionist sex offender (who paid a porn star to keep quiet about their affair) with an overwhelming lead amongst the party that styles itself as the defender of 'traditional moral values', and in a dead heat in the polls with the sitting president?  So far the 2020s are shaping up to be the decade of improbable realities.

Anyway, I still maintain an early primary upset against Trump could give someone else a shot at toppling him.  That sounds quixotic,  but momentum is the key to winning races, and we live in a quixotic world now.

You're over thinking it, attacking the brown guy is cause brown people aren't allowed in their version of America.

To me this reads that he figures his best chance is that trump simply can no longer realistically keep running for president as legal issues continue to build and that the dam eventually bursts leaving room for a non trump candidate in the party. In that scenario, he considers “Vivek the Fake” (lmao) his closest competition to take down and that by defending trump, he would be the one to inherit that base.

Maybe not that he thinks trump will definitely not be able to keep running, but that he knows that if he does keep running, there isn’t a chance in hell for desaturated*

*My iphone autocorrected desantis as desaturated and I’m keeping it

I’ll be curious (not really) to hear what are DeSantis 2-3 ‘positive visions’ since having positive visions in the Republican Party makes you a weak libcuck.

Guns for every third grader, no gay shit, and the sanctity of middle school athletics.

It really makes me wonder what will happen if Trump loses in 2024.  The GOP has pretty much become the party of Trump, so if he loses (or, if there is any justice in this world, dies or gets arrested), where does the party go from there?

So I get the latter quote, but Vivek has been climbing in the polls by positioning himself really close to Trump, doing every interview he can, promising to pardon Trump, etc. They're looking to be Trump for people who are looking elsewhere from Trump (or if Trump dies or goes to jail and can't campaign), so Vivek may be siphoning some of that from DeSantis. DeSantis wants Trump voters without alienating Trump voters.

Considering not going after Trump hasn't had DeSantis climbing the polls, I'm not saying it's a great strategy, but I think it's as simple as candidates wanting Trump voters without alienating Trump voters. As @Ricofoley said, trying to sidestep Trump didn't do them any favors in 2015/2016.

Trump isn't going to the first debate, and instead is giving an interview to Tucker Carlson, honestly going to be funny if he just doesn't run, and all these idiots bought Trump 2024 swag, lol.

Oh he’s running.

Thankfully, most of his new coverage in 2024 is going to be him sitting in a courtroom, going into a courtroom, or leaving a courtroom and that’s going to go as well as for him as the media constantly talking about Hillary’s emails went for her.
