I'll give that one a shot. That sounds easier than what I was thinking about. My thinking was that the best way to go about this one is going with an herby mashed so you don't miss the dairy. Half russet, half yellow on the potato side, a good helping of salt, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, white pepper, thinly sliced chives and thyme, a couple sticks of Miyoko's cultured European unsalted butter, and some Forager half & half...or maybe Tofutti sour cream.

you probably need something to thin it out a little, probably vegetable stock

Among those to contract the virus were the newlyweds and their grandparents.

Are those at home covid tests reliable?

My sister wants Thanksgiving at her place, and demands everyone have a negative test before we show up (smart), but I’m not sure these things are reliable even if my insurance is the one covering the costs.

It's not really as smart as it sounds. Could be a false negative, could still in incubation period and show up negative, could still get the disease after your test but before Thanksgiving, etc etc.

That’s my worry, since I’m one of the few essential workers in the family, and I have to work the morning of Thanksgiving anyways.

That's like the opposite of how the whole DNA/RNA system works

He sent me this link, which naturally has nothing to do with an mRNA vaccine:

Blame the GOP for refusing to prop up the states like every other non-shithole country is doing right now. Cities and states can't print their own money and the feds are forcing them into having to choose trying to eke out some tax revenue over keeping schools open.

I think you might be onto something here. The 3% positivity threshold is absolute bs. That's still very low.
