That is fine and you can just msg it to them (whoever wins), no worries!

And sorry but the 4090 is already called for by Bacon, that one isn’t a contest!

MAN what a GREAT gift, this one makes me jealous and it shouldn't, but it does damnit. I managed to hold off on the 4080/90 and the 3080/90 but it was hard, as I love having a badass gaming pc and have now for well over 25 years. Been burdened a bit by life these past 5 years though, a bit anyways. I'm REALLY excited to get the 5080Ti or 5090 what ever when they are here. Seems like to big a year/number to not really go huge on this one for Nvidia, at least to me. I have never spent over 1500$ on a graphics card but I'm willing to do a 5k budget top end Gaming Rig late 2024 or when ever we actually get these cards. This will have to last 5 years though and seems so long away but I'm really excited for this one again as by then we should really be fully recovered from that damned fire, 100% back on our feet and not being pulled everywhick why by stress and bullshit, When those 50 series cards are here I'll be seeing you there bright and early my friend . . .

I rolled a 52! Closest overall is @Chris- with 53 - I really did roll it, it’s not fellow injured ankle bias!

Clearly this was a rigged giveaway. Due to this, I will giveaway a Steam Deck. Only change in the rules, you don’t need a leg injury to win. I will probably pick a winner on Friday night.

  • stepee changed the title to Steam Deck 512gb contest - Update: Part 2 as Brian joins the festivities!

Congrats on the win @Chris- and once again @stepee:clap: for running the contest.

now as a fellow ankle/foot breaker. I did it when I was 15 or 16 and *thankfully didn’t need surgery because they thought it wasn’t that bad and I was young enough for healing. So 2 casts later and 8w total in a cast and 5 weeks of physio, I had a followup with the doctor. Turns out I did more damage than they thought. I crushed a bone in my foot which they original thought was my growth plate that hadn’t completed growing. I was and still am since then a 13w. So what fucking clown feet did they think I was still growing at that time?!? Ankle still swells after being on it for even say just a half hour, plus I’m pretty sure I partially tore my Achilles then a later in my other foot.

Also attended a Hollywood Babble-On in Toronto and you can hear the guys story. I believe he shattered both leg and was riddled with metal pins. Worse than @Kal-El814which makes me cringe looking at. I think he had like 18-30 pins in each leg. Guy turned up to be sitting right in front of me and I so badly wanted to say I feel your pain. . . sort of

Can you plug a Steam Deck into a monitor or a television?

Yes as long as your monitor supports usbc you can just plug direct, but there is only one usb c port on the deck, so either way you’d probably want to get a dock.

Oh cool, I didn't realize there was a dock!  Thinking about getting one of these so I can play Steam stuff on my television.  I assume there is good controller support too?

Yeah you can plug any controller direct or hook up to it via bluetooth.

If medical conditions are some how getting us better odds of winning....I did lose the hearing in my right ear two summers ago  Being serious here. Woke up and had some crackling in my ear, like I had water in it...within a couple of hours could hear a damn thing in that ear. It's call SSHL: sudden sensorineural hearing loss. Scared the hell out of me. Got to see my doc that day and she immediately sent me to a specialist. He told me it was fairly rare though he'd been seeing an uptick in cases ever since the covid vaccines had started getting pushed, though he had no evidence they were related by any means. Tried a number of treatments. First was steroid injections in the ear. PAINFUL as hell. Then hyperbaric treatments, which was definitely an odd experience. In the end nothing worked and now I have permanent hearing loss in that ear. And it's not just that I can't hear in that ear, it's that there is a permanent static sound in that ear, like I'm walking around with a busted TV on that side of my head. Having such a change to my hearing also screwed up my balance for a while. What really sucks is the my hearing used to be insane. I could be three rooms away and still hear conversations perfectly. Now I can be in the same room with a person and if there is a tv or a radio on I have trouble separating out the individual sounds.

I plan to use these even more once I get my elliptical!

My brother just had his 2nd kid and was down at his place 2 weeks ago and brought the glasses with me. Have a newer iPad Air with the usb-c and can go direct connect now and can get my movies working. So I let my sister-in-law use them while she was nursing and couldn’t believe these glasses existed. She said they were amazing as she could watch a movie and still easily keep an eye on the new born. My mom has a small amputation (toe) in-and-out surgery coming up in October. I will be bringing them with me to kill some time until she’s ready to go home that day. Probably take my SteamDeck too

That sucks. I developed tinnitus in my left ear from Covid. It’s annoying to hear the ringing but I’m used to it. I don’t notice 95% of the time.

but yea your odds stay the same. Only thing moving the needle are some nip pics

Same. I have sharp pains in my right ear and I have a tough time making out conversations sometimes. And I was a drummer for 30 years... But maybe that's why. But I never had issues with hearing because I always used molded in ear monitors so my hearing was protected. And it started 2 years ago after shots etc so yeah.

That’s awesome, really cool the uses people will come up with for AR. I found they are also great for having chord sheets/lyrics/tabs in front of you while learning a song, so you can see them and your instrument at the same time!

Recognize the limitations of the Steam Deck -- it is great as a handheld, and can play less demanding stuff at 1080p.

But, I wouldn't expect to play current AAA stuff on a TV with decent frame rates.
