Let's say this does happen - wouldn't Jeffries speaker position still be incredibly tenuous?  By that I mean, he would have technically be elected by a minority of the total house, so if the Republicans get their act together sometime during this Congress, they could hold a vote to remove him and be successful?

Not really, they'd control committee assignments like the rules committee which would then govern who could introduce what. Without motions to vacate or discharge petitions he would be speaker until he stepped down or a new election.

I would be surprised if Fox is even covering it, at least live.

 

They run very little live news. It’s mostly just interviews with pundits about the days hot cultural topic, even during their daytime programming.
