To bring it full circle, John Oliver's progenitor, Jon Stewart, brought Tucker Carlson to the forefront of political ridicule when he went on Tucker's CNN show in 2004 and took the man (and the whole political talking head media thing) apart, live on telivision:

Haven't watched it in years, but my favorite part of that interview has always been

Stewart: And, how old are you?

Carlson: 34

Stewart: ...and you're wearing a fucking bowtie.

Let's not forget the time Fucker Carlson claimed that a female teacher raping her underage student wasn't really rape, and was doing him a service

The Daily Beast resurfaced a video interview showing Tucker Carlson making similar arguments defending statutory rape as recently as 2015.

Yup to him if you're a male student and have sex with your female teacher it's a real high five moment.

Holy shit, I just stumbled upon a new-to-me conservative viewpoint from some idiot obviously caught in the right-wing echo chamber of fear-mongering...

For 8 years the Obama admin fired and replaced all of the leadership of nearly every bureaucracy in the country. He ensured every single bureaucrat at every leadership position was a party loyalist. Even in the military. This is why the entire government apparatus was turned against Trump. This is why the military is consistently lowering its standards to ensure a social justice agenda is promoted OVER national security. This is why you have doctors being arrested and prosecuted for disturbing COVID vaccines to white people, that would have otherwise been thrown away.
Everything is connected in this communist social justice system. Why do you think it was so easy for the democrats to cheat the election?
They’re coming for you. And no, your guns will not keep you safe. Don’t be stupid. They have manpower. They have the media and public opinion, they loyalists at all levels of law enforcement and the military. They will come for you, us, quickly, but no so quick that it causes an outrage. They’ll brand you as terrorists, use the media to make it true, and send their gestapo for you.
Your neighbors, friends, and family won’t help you. Maybe they won’t believe the lies being said, but they’ll have just enough doubt that it won’t matter. Then they’ll come for them.
Republicans are spineless and useless and are only good for surrendering to democrats.
If you think your vote matters you’re wrong. If you think you’re safe in flyover country with your guns, you’re wrong.
You don’t think the dems are going to take control of their food supply?
Stop being naive.

they [GOP] aren’t. They’re doing literally nothing but capitulating to democrats because they’re cowards.
But doing nothing is what I want my government to do mostly. If they would, you know, have a damned spine and oppose the democrats that would be awesome.
Considering the republicans aren’t actively trying to destroy western civilization and usher in globalist communism, I think I’ve targeted the appropriate threat and have it thoroughly narrowed down. If the pendulum swings the other way to where the republicans become the psychopathic authoritarians then I will rant against them.
Sadly, I doubt we will survive as a nation to see the pendulum swing the other way. The dollar is already failing as inflation is picking up very quickly. Soon the state will start enacting more authoritarian measures to counter their reckless spending and money printing schemes. Those measures will compound supply chain shortages and create more market hysteria causing more inflation which will cause more authoritarian price controls....ad infinatum.

The Overton window has shifted so far left that a New York democrat named Donald Trump was called “far right”. He barely had any conservative positions. He was further left than Obama in nearly everything except for the utter absurdity of most of his socialist policies and punitive tax code.
Republicans are literally watching the west burn to the ground at the hands of psychotic democrats and have so little conviction they’re letting it happen.

I just love that last line.  Over-reaching right-leaning cops and white mass murderers sure are "weak and passive" :|

My fav talking point has been “the party switch never happened and it’s just Democrats trying to rewrite history because of slavery and the KKK”. I saw someone post a meme that reads “Democrats become violent  when they don’t get what they want” showing John Wilkes Booth holding a gun to the back of Lincoln’s head. :|

And it won’t last two weeks because they can’t own the libs on it.

Echo chamber social media apps always fail.

I don't know, people really like their echo chambers.  Old coworkers who were anti-maskers defriended me and others on Facebook because I fairly gently pointed out they're passing misinformation.

Yeah, I think a lot of people like the echo chamber.

The thing that makes these platforms less dangerous is that they are way less likely to spread the contagion.

On Facebook, an uninformed, but otherwise totally normal person, can well meaningly click on a link that appears to be anti-child trafficking and 4 hours later you got a Q zombie.

On Tritter or Tracebook, the zombies are just cannibalizing one another.

I get "the party switch never happened" ALL the time.  It's always Lincoln freed the slaves, Democrats started the KKK ad nauseam.

Online donors were guided into weekly recurring contributions. Demands for refunds spiked. Complaints to banks and credit card companies soared. But the money helped keep Donald Trump’s struggling campaign afloat.

Predatory!” Mr. Wilson said of WinRed. Like multiple other donors interviewed, though, he held Mr. Trump himself blameless, telling The Times, “I’m 100 percent loyal to Donald Trump.”

The level of idiocy knows no bounds
