CNBC: Democrats offer to lower coronavirus relief package cost by $1 trillion as new talks begin

Quote

On Friday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said that during a Thursday night meeting she offered to cut her desired aid price tag by $1 trillion if Republicans increased the size of their plan by $1 trillion. The Trump administration declined, she said.

Pelosi added that she could cut back spending by making some programs expire earlier than originally proposed. House Democrats passed a roughly $3 trillion relief package in May, and Republicans last week proposed a bill that costs about $1 trillion.

35% of Americans say they would not take a free, FDA-approved vaccine for COVID-19.

Who are opposed to it? GOP, Gen-X, and boomers:

Democrats saying that they would get an FDA-approved vaccine at no cost and 19 percent saying they would not. Among independents, 59 percent said yes and 41 percent said no.

Among GOP survey respondents, however, 53 percent of those surveyed said that they would not agree to receive the proposed vaccine. Forty-seven percent said that they would get the vaccine.

The percentage of those who said that they would receive the vaccine was highest among the youngest and the oldest survey respondents. Seventy-six percent of 18-29-year-olds said that they would get the vaccine, as well as 70 percent of those 65 and older. Sixty-four percent of 30-49-year-olds agreed, as well as 59 percent of 50-64-year-olds.

It sucks because Trump is doing everything he can to cause legitimate concern about some kind of rushed vaccine.

I don't think I would be in a hurry to run out and get a Trump brand vaccine that is revealed as an October surprise. Would be like the Xbox 360 launch units of vaccinations.

Even if it does specify FDA approved, who is running that now? The guy who thought Aids was punishment from God, or the woman who believes in demon sperm?

I tend to agree. If there is an October vaccine, I'll wait for the news to continue into December thru February before considering taking that for myself or my family. I'd lean heavy on what Dr Fauci says, and a few other independent experts outside of the US government

I’m not taking that vaccine regardless of Trump. Check with me in a year.

I think that poll could use some clarity as we don't know if they are talking about "ever" or "I'm concerned about lack of phase 3 trials so I'll get it eventually but not immediately if it proves to be safe". I'd imagine that 35% is more-so people who also refuse MMR vaccines, but who knows.

I'd much rather a poll with "immediately - wait & see (safety concerns) - never" as opposed to "yes - no".
