The Batman (04 March 2022) - Information Thread, update: deleted Arkham Asylum scene released

Recommended Posts

Sadly I have seen that Batman: Bad Blood movie and it’s pretty bad and worse of the animated Batman dtv movies. Clones and almost everyone becomes a Bat”something” by the 3/4 mark of the film. Still very much looking forward to this movie and loving the visual look of it from the trailers.

Not to be a grump, but I’m at the point where I can’t even get excited for a good Batman movie. And by all accounts this looks like it’ll be a good one, I just wish I could care.

I also don't care

Saw the trailer before Dune and the dude behind me let out a dramatic sigh when it came on. I wanted to high five him, my thoughts exactly.

I want a Batman movie that takes place in 4 city blocks. The whole thing, a Die Hard Batman movie. I want his suit to be Spandex.

It is weird how on paper, this should be my most anticipated movie. But the more I see of it, the less excited I get, even though it doesn't look bad.

Of course, I'll still be there opening weekend.

I think because it looks so much like Nolan's take it's hard to separate the two.  Also we've gotten so many interpretations of Batman's world over the last ten years or so this just doesn't look all that different.  I dunno, I'm sure it will be good... Matt Reeves hasn't steered me wrong yet... but these trailers are doing absolutely nothing for me. I'd be more excited about another Superman movie to be honest. Or where the hell is Green Lantern? Dude deserves another shot at live action and there's so many to choose from.

For me there's a combination of general superhero fatigue combined with this being ANOTHER Batman variation on a very familiar theme that it's hard to be excited.  For what it's worth I also don't care about any of the Marvel stuff coming down the pike either with the only exception being the new Spider-Verse which has the benefit of being the most unique of the lot.

Batman has always been my favorite super hero and Batman movies have the best batting average for me. And the last couple movies that Batman has been in have been duds while this one actually looks good.

Hopefully Pattinson’s Batman doesn’t fucking murder anyone.

Didn't I read that this Batman will be the closest thing to a psycho we've seen yet?

Yeah - this interpretation of Batman is very much borderline psychotic.

The pummeling he gives that guy in the first trailer that was released pretty much confirmed that.

This film is PG-13. Maybe Reeves will put out a Director's Cut that'll be R, or people just let their speculation and desire for an R rated Batman film get the better of them, but it was never going to be R in the first place.

It's official - The Batman has been rated PG-13 despite rumours that this could be an R-rated take on Bruce Wayne's early vigilante career.

There is absolutely an R-rated cut of this film waiting for Blu-ray/streaming release.

I certainly wouldn't be surprised. Given the current state of the world (and things getting bad that another delay could be imminent), WB certainly wouldn't release an R rated Batman film so they can get as many people to see it in theatres as possible. I could see a theatrical return for the R rated cut when things are better as well.

I'm all-but-convinced that there was some serious negotiation between WB and the MPAA to get a PG-13 rating for the theatrical cut.

Practically everything I've seen of this film just positively shouts "R-rating".

It certainly has the aesthetics of one! Practically everyone has said it looks like a Fincher movie. I wonder what would push it over the edge to be R though because I doubt they would start dropping F bombs, and definitely no nudity. That really only leaves extreme blood and violence. It's funny how The Dark Knight got a lot of talk of how close it felt to being R, yet there's practically no blood at all in the movie.

It's not just movie tickets - an R rated movie severely limits the potential for merchandising and toys.

ok. but what if we got over that

It’s not the silver age anymore, there are tons of “heroic” characters that kill their enemies. If Batman shoots guns and kills people he’s just The Punisher with a cape.

Frank Miller didn’t let Batman kill people. Come on now. :p
