What are you playing today?

Forbidden West is a direct continuation to Zero Dawn, not just a sequel with its own separate standalone story which is why I personally feel that it’s kind of important to play Zero Dawn first. Regardless, Zero Dawn is a great game in its own right so I’m not sure why you would tell someone to skip it.

I had to force myself I believe 3 times to finish Zero Dawn. It's not a great game imo.

I didn’t realize that you didn’t like Zero Dawn, I didn’t like it quite as much as the masses did but I still liked it. I’m surprised that you were interested in Forbidden West if you didn’t like Zero Dawn. Based on what I’ve played of Forbidden West it’s essentially more of the same, but with some improvements here and there.

Forbidden West improves upon a lot of negative things in Zero Dawn. I know I'll enjoy it and beat it.

I’m now all in on Tunic. It’s a nice break from Elden Ring, but also at one point I was fighting a boss so big it nearly filled the screen, dodging its attack with a roll that grants temporary invulnerability, chugging health potions from recharging flasks that I recently upgraded, and I thought “well, at least now I’m playing as this adorable little fox and not some Tarnished freak”

Agreed. I think its just good. It feels repetitive, climbing is bad, combat was uninspired. Only the main story was worth following. I had to specifically not play it open world, and just follow the story, because I didn't enjoy the world and systems.

This time around, everything is so refined, and so much easier to play. The side quests tell real stories about real people in the world. The main story was exciting all the way through. The Arena Combat was an absolute blast. I just enjoyed it a lot more. Except Aloy's constant talking.

I can't wait to see what Call of the Mountain is.

Started Stark Trek: Elite Force II and Soma Union. Soma Union was free and so far is good except that it is made in RPG maker so it is occasionally frustrating because it doesn't know what a monitor or a controller is. Once you get it to take up most of the screen and the controls are mostly working it's fun. I had to use my wireless mouse and the Windows on screen keyboard so that I could continue playing on the couch with a controller because I encountered a section where the 2 buttons that work which are all you need most of the time (only 1 of which works with the default controls, luckily this isn't the first time I've encountered this RPG maker crap and was able to use the mappings from another game to make it mostly playable) weren't enough once I reached a section that only works with the A key on the keyboard not with anything that can be assigned to a controller.

@Bloodporne Skyward Sword controls like shit on the Switch. I was enjoying the game for just about 10 hours and then I had enough. Beware.

I’m complete opposite and have found the controls fine (better than the Wii). The only thing that took some time was getting used to throwing and rolling.

That's good to hear then. Glad you're enjoying your time with it.

Got a bit burnt out on Elden Ring and started too much shit. So now somehow playing Elden Ring, Ass Creed Valhalla, Borderlands 3, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and trying to get my PS5 some attention and play GT7 and trying to get the last two trophies I need to play TLOU2. Probably going to have to drop a couple of these. I just got ready to get into GT7 last night and it said my data was corrupted and to delete and re download....Hopefully it's good to go this weekend.

I started playing Fuse, and it’s a badass third person cover shooter with melee attacks and stealth kills as well. The shooting mechanics are solid, and there’s cool scripted events and set pieces.

That's that old EA Squad shooter from back in the day? I played and beat that... it was very solid but got shat on at the time for some reason. I loaned my copy to a friend and never got it back

Yeah, it was developed by Insomniac Games and published by EA back in 2013. I also remember when it came out that a lot of people were down on it for some reason, so I just figured that it was bad and passed on it. But somewhat recently when I was completing my Xbox 360 game collection I bought it for cheap since I was always curious about it, and I’m glad that I did because it’s a kick-ass third person cover shooter better than I was expecting it to be. It looks good, plays good and offers some intense firefights along with cool scripted events and set pieces. It might not be a AAA blockbuster, but it’s a lot of fun IMO.

Yeah it is. I bought it back then and didn't understand why so many folks were down on it. Never played it co-op but it seemed like it could have been pretty good as a co-op game. 2013, huh? I thought it was older than that.

I think that this video somewhat explains why a lot of people were down on it:

It was originally called Overstrike, and had a more cartoonish, comedic, playful and whimsical vibe to it based on its original reveal trailer. Then apparently due to focus testing they decided to turn it into a darker, grittier and more serious/violent game. Its original identity and personality were somewhat lost when they changed it, and a lot of people weren’t happy about it. I admit that its original concept did look pretty cool, but I still like what we got.

If the day works out nap wise, goi g to get ever closer to finishing Skyward Sword. I also need to check if I have a non-fucked save or Dark Souls, if not…not that.

I do not have an unfucked save. So, I found all the last bits in Skyward Sword and my reward is another silent realm. Oh well, I think a few more hours and I’ll be finished.
