1-2:

Dark Souls

Bloodborne

4-9 no order:

Persona 4 Golden

Battlefield Bad Company 2

Mass Effect 2

The Wolf Among Us

The Witcher 3

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood

Xenoblade Chronicles

3:

Fuck you Dragon Age: Origins :dab2:

Shit it would be my number one BY FAR except that it was 2009. Dark Souls isn't on my list because of Demon's Souls which also came out in 2009 I believe. I love Dark Souls but I will always put Demon's Souls ahead of it.

I didn't play demon's souls until after DS1 or DS2. Can't remember. DeS is good, but I'd only put it at 3rd best because it is lacking after playing DaS and I love the theme of BB.

Hearthstone
Lone Echo

SuperHot VR
Portal 2
GTA V
Last of Us
Spider-Man
Rise of the Tomb Raider

Horizon: Zero Dawn
What Remains of Edith Finch

Hearthstone is the easiest inclusion. It's by far the game I've played the most, and as I've tried other CCGs, there's a simplicity and polish alongside sufficient complexity that keeps me coming back.

Lone Echo and SuperHot VR are the two games that I keep thinking of when I imagine the future of VR. The feelings that I got from those games are unlike anything any game has ever done for me. Great VR is transcendent, if only it wasn't so incredibly rare.

GTA V, Last of Us, Spider-Man, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Rise of the Tomb Raider are all games that did little to redefine their genres, but they're such good entries. Looking back at the decade, it's easy to say that those kinds of single player experiences clearly defined my favorite games. When there's a good one, there's little else I find more enjoyable in gaming.

Portal 2, despite being a sequel, remains so unique and memorable.

What Remains of Edith Finch is borderline, but despite only being a long afternoon of gameplay, it's something that has kept with me. It's inventive and moving and a reminder of how little gaming as a whole even tries to accomplish.

Obviously there are a lot that I'd like to put on a longer list. Breath of the Wild and Skyrim come to mind as experiences that I really enjoyed, but I just don't hold quite as high as others. God of War could easily switch spots with a few games on my list. There are a ton of games like Minecraft and Fortnite that I never got into that would make a "most important" list.

I'm not quite as high on it here as other people are, but it's very well crafted.  I'll give a shout out to The Swapper and Brothers as well, which I thought were just as compelling in a 'sticks with you' kind of way.

This is by no means a definitive list of what I've loved over the last 10 years, but it is the one that has the most games I keep coming back to play again and again!

Mass Effect is 2007... unless you meant Mass Effect 2.

I so want to re-play Dark Souls once again and I fucking hate them for screwing up that PS4 remaster. I assume the best modern way to play is PC version with mods at this point, yeah?

I JUST beat it over the summer. The Xbox One Remaster which seemed fine to me. How is the PS4 remaster screwed? I own the game for PS3, 360 and Xbox one (the remaster) lol.

The remaster is fine, but I did have an issue with new game plus that has unbearable input delay - like up to 5 seconds delay after I push the button. It’s save file related too and does not seem to be a common issue.

I don’t think there should be a major concern by anyone to play the remaster...

This might not bother you guys, but the PS4 version at the very least has glitched/missing ambient soundtrack in quite a few areas and I've seen in confirmed in quite a few playthrough videos. The sound design of Dark Souls was extremely important to me, I always played it with headphones, and honestly, I'm not interested between that, which could've been patched had they even remotely given a shit about this, and the lighting changes and so on.

Dark Souls is quite possibly my favorite game...ever...and for me personally, it's unacceptable that they fucked with the aesthetics in even the slightest way. I tried the demo and it actually made me angry.

One day, that one fateful day, when I decide to actually buy a real computer (gasp), I'll replay the modded old version and it shall be glorious.

I can appreciate that.

this game was legit SO FUN

I also REALLY liked Blur but I have to fault it for the CoD leveling mechanics that was shoehorned into it. Honestly Activision completely fucked the arcade racer genre by making the devs delay the game to put in that system.

I know it's more of a teaser/demo and whatnot, but it's also the scariest game and more of an emotional rollercoaster than most anything I've ever played (or even most horror movies), so ya better believe it's going down as one of my ten favorites of the decade :sun:

I have tried so many times to get into this game and I cant. The combat mechanics are just so unwieldy and it drives me up the wall.

Combat works fine in that game.  it's even better in American Nightmare. It's plays differently than a lot of other third person shooters so folks shouldn't try to play it like that.

I am not blaming the game , the fault rest squarely on me.

I never gave the combat a second thought. I felt it fine. Nothing amazing, but nothing that took me from the narrative. I’ve not even touched American Nightmare. But my God did I have a blast in this game. Weird part is, bought it launch day and I’m a giant vagina so I was scared at the start and stopped playing 😋

But I managed to stop being afraid of games over the years and completed it in 2019 on Steam. Was sad it only took like 15 hours, but is what it is. Great game.
