He clearly fetishizes Asian Women and sees them primarily as objects which is what made it easy for him to kill them. Combine that with his extremely religious background and the current climate of Asian hate crimes (which crosses demographics) and I can't see how you wouldn't classify this as a bias crime, more commonly known as a hate crime. Shit the fact that Women were targeted should classify it as a hate crime because this kid clearly had a specific target in mind based on race and gender. But look at Assange as another example, he may have been an asshole before the embassy but it seems like the whole saga with Sweden and then being stuck in the embassy morphed his motives into a really personal revenge vendetta against the US that didn't seem to be there before.
