lol the garbage one that has 30% efficacy and probably contributes to variants

The more effective Pfizer one has been approved as well! ^_^

The first-of-its-kind treatment, Paxlovid, has been found to be highly protective against severe illness. It could be available within a few days.

New Florida anti-COVID ads now feature:

  • Regeneron, which no longer works and is out of stock in much of Florida anyway
  • Taking your vitamins
  • COVID patients

Does not mention:

  • Getting a vaccine

State sponsored commercials promoting COVID-19 vaccinations have been pulled from Florida's airwaves.

Can't get tested in NY at all, shit is totally overloaded. I've had, what appears to be, a cold for a few days and needed to get tested for work but earliest tests are about a week out. As a result I had to take two sick days between yesterday and today instead of being able to work from home because then 'everyone will want to do that'.

Probably best to assume it's Omicron.

I mean I'm assuming the worst, yeah, but it would be nice to know. I just got my booster shot last week as well but worked out outside totally underdressed like a dumbass and promptly got sick. That's why I think it's probably a cold.

You don’t get a cold from it being cold 😂

The lower your body temperature the less active your immune system is, it goes into hibernation and slows the production of white blood cells. This is a FACT. This is actually even more dangerous with the omicron virus floating around. People with lower body temperatures are 64% likely to get infected by omicron covid.

My post was kinda in the vein of 'cold outside plus workout exhaustion and underdressed = very susceptible'. To clarify I don't actually think literal cold causes a cold but it was definitely funny anyway so why not eh

Jesus. Quebec just announced over 9,000 cases today. Last seven days:

  • 2,736
  • 3,631
  • 3,846
  • 4,571
  • 5,043
  • 6,361
  • 9,397

The plan is for health workers with Covid to keep working:

If you get COVID-19 and end up in a Quebec hospital this winter, you could be cared for by a worker who also has the virus. Quebec is laying groundwork to let infected health-care workers stay on the job in case of a staffing emergency. Their unions aren't happy.

There's simply no other choice. If you have a large % of your hospital staff catch COVID and they have to isolate, then even more people will die from lack of care. It's horrible.

I know that rapid antigen tests are less accurate than PCR (I believe around 70% accurate for asymptomatic, 90% with symptoms), but does anyone know if that has changed with Omicron?

Apparently they do work, not as accurate like you said though. I believe the 70% is roughly what I have read/seen from news report on accuracy with Omicron. My older sister knows a mom from my nieces school who tried 2 of the at home tests but turned up negative. Still felt crappy and got the PCR and was confirmed to have Omicron. My cousins husband, still works for Canada Post apparently, and was sent 10 more additional at home tests for work yesterday. She had Covid for sure but tested negative on a PCR test which the husband was positive on. They share a fucking bed together and there is no way she didn’t get infected, let alone mom, my sister and myself at the same time almost 2 years ago.

My brother in law was over at our house yesterday with “allergy problems”…text this morning from the sister in law “He tested positive for Covid”

Ts and Ps for your guy 😂. Really only concerned with my mother in law. She’s in slightly vulnerable health status and in her late 60s.

Sorry to hear that. At this point I assume even people with broken ankles actually have COVID and just don't want to get tested.

Fuck now you got me worried lol. A friend of mine was over on Saturday sneezing a lot and also insisting it was allergies. Wondering if I should get tested even though I feel totally fine.
