Also, I have seen people grocery shopping in dust masks and blue latex gloves. But I am assuming they go home take off all of that stuff and then just touch the things they bought with their bare hands. Like, unless they disinfect everything or put everything in new containers, isn't all that stuff pointless?

You could put the stuff away and wash your hands at home. Hard to do that when you're grocery shopping.

So, I have about as much medical knowledge as I do political knowledge, but I got a question(s).

So, what about covid-19 is killing people? Like, I don't know exactly how heart failure works, but I mean, clearly the heart failed in some way. With covid-19 I just hear that people get sick and then they die. What about this is killing the doctors? Are they just working hard to the point that their body can't put up any kind of defense? I just want to understand what about this thing is causing deaths.

Also part 2, time to take the SFLUFAN name for myself :dab2:

https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=SFLUFAN I also have just become aware of that link.

Basically if someone coughs the disease is spread by droplets and if you breathe in the droplets you get sick. You'll get a cough and shit. Then if the virus travels down into your lungs it basically inflames the sacks in your lungs so you can't breathe then you die.

How much shit?

:s

You can't breathe because your lungs fill with liquid/blood and you end up drowning.

The US also faces the same problem Germany currently has: due to a sever lack of tests, if someone dies and they haven't been tested yet, they likely will not be tested and their death will not be recorded in the stats.

Could that be why the death rate is so low in Germany comparatively? I know Italy and Spain are low on tests, too.

Also the immune response to the virus can leave you vulnerable to bacterial infection.

I believe this is what the "study"  adding azithromycin to hydroxychloroquine found. The z pack was not necessarily to treat covid-19 directly, but the increased chance of bacterial infection due to the virus.

Even if you survive you could end up with permanent lung damage.

You could but that's been rare so far. Anyway China has closed movie theaters again after opening some of them this previous weekend.

Quote

As we reported earlier today, the city of Shanghai was set to re-open a further 205 cinemas on Saturday, indicating that this latest update appears to be a sudden u-turn in policy from a national level.

The spread of COVID-19 has slowed considerably in China in recently, with only one locally-transmitted case recorded in the last three days. However, there has been a spike in imported cases, with some 53 being reported yesterday as having come from overseas. In response, the Chinese government has said it will stop foreign citizens entering the country as it looks to avert a second wave of the virus.

Chins was the original epicenter of the virus when it first emerged in the city of Wuhan. The government put in place strict (and some have said controversial) containment measures to stem the spread, which appears to have worked to a large degree. Yesterday, Wuhan ended its quarantine and re-opened transport to and from the city. In total, the country has seen 81,340 confirmed cases, a figure now overtaken by the U.S., which is still in a much earlier stage of the virus spread.

Sounds like British Columbia has given permission to Vancouver to buy a bunch of street drugs to make available to addicts on the Downtown East Side. With the flow of street drugs cut off, the situation was apparently getting bad for users. The worry was they would be overdosing on weird chemicals, and some turning to crime to get them.

Maybe the government just needs to set up some vending machines?

This interview is meant to be informative, not entertaining.

Yeah, I wasn't meaning to single out this interview per se.  Just in general, when these talk show hosts are trying to do their shows from home, it just comes off as awkward.

What does this even mean? How do you find something that was just delivered? And if they were delivered in the past to be stored in New York wouldn’t that still be federal property? I don’t even know why I bother to make sense of this.

Wow. After pressure from the third-place NDP (social democrats), the Liberal government is pushing forward with a second major aid bill. This one will subsidize small business payroll up to 75% to keep people employed, and will make CERB ($2,000 emergency income replacement) non-taxable.

The NDP is now pressuring them to give CERB to everyone as  universal income, not just those who only lost their jobs as of Mar 15:
