Democratic Debate Round 3

Recommended Posts

I don’t know who the media is going to pick for win/lose. I think for lose they are going to pick Castro because they are going to say he was too mean to Biden. For win, I could see them picking Biden just because he didn’t fall asleep, they did give him like half the time it seemed. If not him, I bet they’ll give it to Beto.

I feel like Warren won because she is the best candidate and continues to be, and Biden loses because he continues to concern me.

talking heads this morning seem to say Biden was the winner and Beto was very strong. Warren didn't do anything wrong but just didn't stand out.

That's what I'm seeing. I noticed Warren didn't stand out for the time I watched it, but she didn't hurt herself either.

Sanders' disadvantage is that he can't go into long discussions with so many candidates. Honestly, the next debates having 5 - 6 people each will work better for him and Warren to make their progressive points harder against the more establishment candidates.

Sanders’ disadvantage is that he can’t talk policy specifics; he can only speak in the patter of vague platitudes about economic inequality.

You need to be able to do both to woo the democratic electorate (unless, like Biden, you’re already an established quantity with the base and you’re just trying to cruise on name recognition); I think that’s why Warren’s beating him.

As an aside, my summary for this debate would consist of one word: “meh”

I don't expect them to adopt it as a platform immediately, but it starts to shift the debate in the right direction.

What's crazy to me is that not a single Democratic candidate (AFAIK) has argued for ending the war on drugs.  The war on drugs is what has fueled gun violence over the last 4 or 5 decades.  Ending the war on drugs and investing heavily into inner cities will have more impact on gun violence then confiscating AR-15s.

But why do that when we can ban flavored nicotine vapes instead?
