Breaking: 22 year-old anime fan opens fire on Federal building in Dallas

This thread is already well off the rails, so I'm going to just post my final thoughts:

The thing that ultimately makes me despise the incel movement is that it discourages self-improvement.  It's saying that no matter what you do, no woman is ever going to give you what you want, so there's no point in trying.  Which is absolute bullshit.

Do women think you're too fat?  Join a gym and work on your diet.  Do they think you smell bad?  Work on managing your hygienic habits.  Repulsed by your appearance?  Look into improving your fashion sense and/or skin care.  Lack confidence or social skills?  Figure out ways you can improve on those, like a therapy session or attending some kind of group function. (I realize that I'm throwing stones from my glass house regarding that last one.)

I'm not going to pretend it's easy.  And yes, it can be easier for some guys over others.  But it can be done.  You're better than you think you are.

This whole 'movement' is sad, ridiculous and fucked up but in no way, shape or form can I imagine the the solution being that easy. I don't think you're considering the major psychological damage that probably goes hand in hand with years of potential bullying and, even if only perceived, mistreatment that I imagine would drive someone to identify with such a bizarrely extreme subculture.

Arriving at a point of willfully discouraging self-improvement and shutting out any chances of it ever happening has to have been a long road of what I said above. Hitting a gym, dieting, and magically gaining self-confidence and social skills when you're probably hiding a massive amount of depression and insecurity behind your misplaced, ridiculous lashing out against women is probably near impossible.

I actually don't disagree with what you said at all especially being a big believer in personal responsibility but I do think it's a very simplified take for both of us to believe as an answer to something so complex.

I don't disagree with this.  The notion that "you aren't a REAL man if you're a virgin" is a stereotype that has been around for generations, and is something that needs to be addressed.  I would even say that the incel movement is a symptom of such stereotypes.  Like you said though, it's a very complex issue that likely won't be fixed anytime soon...if ever.  And I'm not sure where the starting point would even be.

And yes, admittedly my post was oversimplifying the issue.  But so is just assuming that the answer is to hate all women forever and assume the worst about them because they won't have sex with you.  And the latter is worse, since you're demonizing a group of people that have done little to nothing to warrant the hate, which can lead to extreme measures like the shooter that this topic is about.

Yeah, I mean, I would never argue against the bolded obviously. Nobody in their right mind could and that wasn't the point of my post of course.

No, it wasn't.  Again, I agree with your point that there's deeply troubling psychological issues that incels have that drove them to where they are, and those need to be worked out.  How exactly to resolve those issues is another question entirely.

Do you have Down Syndrome? Bc you've been acting pretty Down Syndromey lately.

Well I'll be damned if you didn't misrepresent what I said twice!

Frankly, I find it more offensive autism keeps getting put alongside mental retardation. Why do some of you folks keep doing that? At its most simplified, autism is a condition affecting communication and social skills, not someone's intelligence.

And reducing it to "lately" when I've said multiple times it was over years of interactions?

Again, JFC. Or should I say YIKES!

I was actually pretty much over this, since I'd slept. But then I see you pulling your offensive dishonesty again and goddamn, man. I don't have the time or the interest to go at this again today, but I just wanted to correct you.

You talked about it twice yesterday, so clearly you were upset. No shit Down's Syndrome and autism are nothing like. Point is asking someone if they have autism because of how they interact on a message board is fucking terrible.

Sure, I was upset at you and a couple others misrepresenting me. You can think it's rude all you want, but you don't have to bring up mental retardation over and over as it's comparable nor do you have to misrepresent what was actually said. We disagree. Just leave it at that and don't get all dishonest.

Dishonest about what? I never said they were comparable! I brought it up to show the absurdity of asking someone that over some stupid posts. If you connect the two, that's on you.

Please respond. We got a thread to lock!

I've already documented this thoroughly in the thread. First, you falsely claimed I diagnosed someone, which was completely untrue and I called that bullshit out. And if you aren't trying to compare autism and mental retardation, why did you change my post about depression and anxiety to one about mental retardation if not to try to somehow equivocate autism and mental retardation?

You found my initial post to be rude. That's all you had to say. I disagree, but whatever. I wouldn't have been upset.

Anyway, I'm over repeating myself. The rest of y'all can continue to be outraged and offended.

You know what word I hate? "Veggies"... I get so triggered when I hear grown people say this

I fucking hate when people say veggies, two-fer, delish, vacay or any other infantile drivel like this. I hate overly hyperbolic shit like calling everything awesome, amazing and so on as well. I mean come on bitch, your morning overpriced Starbucks sugar bomb of a coffee wasn't fucking AMAZING. If it was, your life is really dull and I hate you.

We can add "epic" and "crazy" to this as well.

Come to think of it "oh my goooooddddd" as a response to incredibly mundane statements is one of the worst. "Oh my gosh" somehow offends me even more.

"What the heck" is going onto the pyre. We know it's hell you dunce.

"Epic" is especially offensive coming from anyone over 30.

Seeing if someone has anxiety or depression over the internet is a lot easier than the other disorders.

Why did you ask him if he had autism if you hadn't already made a diagnosis in your head? Weird question to ask.
