About Me

  1. The shorts announced at the event, and the studios working on them, include: The Duel by Kamikaze Douga (Batman Ninja) Lop & Ocho by Geno Studio (Golden Kamuy) Tatooine Rhapsody by Studio Colorido (A Whisker Away) The Twins and The Elder by Trigger (Kill La Kill) The Village Bride by Kinema Citrus (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0) Akakiri and T0-B1 by Science Saru (Japan Sinks) The Ninth Jedi by Production IG (Ghost in the Shell)
  2. So yourself a favor and check this one out... The series is based on the Viz licensed series by the same name... VIZ | The Official Website for The Way of the Househusband WWW.VIZ.COM It’s a day in the life of a househusband—only this one is the legendary yakuza “the Immortal Dragon”! Here's my quick summary. It's about a legendary yakuza hitman that hangs up his life of crime to support his new wife's career. He takes everything VERY seriously. It's hilarious. There really aren't enough sincerely great comedy anime that could work well for anybody, but this one fits the bill.
  3. We're getting a Mieruko-chan anime this October... That trailer is way more serious than it really should be, but I'm guessing they're trying to make it clear that there's some frightening imagery here. The series follows this highschool girl just trying to live a normal life that can see terrifying ghosts and demons all around her. We're talking full Junji Ito-style horror. That's really the entire hook. There's really nothing more to it. She spends her entire time doing her best to pretend she can't see them for fear that they'll start following her around if they know she can interact with them.
  4. MAPPA's latest series' trailer is here. I don't know if a US home for the series has been announced, but the first manga has been hugely popular in the States and the rest of the world, so I'm not really worried about a delayed release unless Netflix picks it up. For those unfamiliar with the series, it's based on a very gory manga that follows a homeless kid that forges a pact with a chainsaw devil. This turns him into the titular Chainsaw Man and his hunt for the gun devil. On the surface, it's as dumb as it sounds, but it's also way better than any non-spoiler synopsis would indicate. I've been looking forward to this adaptation for a while now. The manga features some great action that follows incredibly well. It should, SHOULD, be a successful adaptation. The first manga series finished up late last year with a new sequel manga series currently in the works. For some time now, I've thought a Chainsaw Man anime could be a hit the same way One Punch Man and Attack on Titan had. There's aren't a huge number of manga with that kind of potential, but I really do think Chainsaw Man is one of them.

  6. "‘Castlevania’ Universe Expands With New Series Set During French Revolution – Deadline" ‘Castlevania’ Universe Expands With New Netflix Series Set During French Revolution Led By Descendant Of Trevor & Sypha DEADLINE.COM As Castlevania, based on the classic Konami video game, came to an end, the world it created is living on. As Deadline reported in April, Netflix is going forward a new anime series set in the same…
  7. Here ya go - I know nothing about any of this Netflix just announced a huge slate of anime series and films WWW.THEVERGE.COM From Gundam to Godzilla.
  8. ‘Lord of the Rings’ Anime Feature Fast-Tracked by New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation VARIETY.COM New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation are producing the anime theatrical film "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim."
  9. Get hyped boys, looks good! Featuring LaKeith Stanfield as Yasuke and directed by Lesean Thomas 🔥🔥🔥
  10. Looks like AT&T is unloading some of its properties. Next on the chopping block is Crunchyroll which they've just sold to Sony for a little more than $1b... AT&T to Sell Crunchyroll to Sony’s Funimation for $1.175 Billion VARIETY.COM AT&T agreed to sell its Crunchyroll anime business to Sony's Funimation group for $1.175 billion in cash.
  11. Terminator Anime Series Coming to Netflix From The Batman Co-Writer - IGN WWW.IGN.COM Netflix is working on a Terminator anime series with the Japanese studio behind Psycho-Pass and Ghost in the Shell. Maybe this will succed where the movies continue to fail.
  12. Aside from the potato quality trailer being the only one I can find online, it looks...OK? I think Lupin III lends itself a bit more to the CG look. This movie is certainly better looking than Ronja, but I'll wait for a second trailer before really committing one way or the other. The stills they released a while back looked good, so we'll see. Goro Miyazaki still isn't the best director Ghibli has, so that isn't winning them any favors.
  13. @legendhas been very hush hush about his AI work. But recently it has come to light what he's working on. An AI that can create the perfect anime waifu for you! Waifu Labs WAIFULABS.COM The next chapter of human history: lit waifu commissions from the world’s smartest AI artist.
  14. For the film's 20th anniversary they have finally decided to release it on blu-ray. I recall pimping this all the time back on IGN so I'm happy to see this finally come to blu-ray. I hope this means that Millennium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers are soon to follow.
  15. I don’t know what else to say, I just wanted to create a space in which I can discuss it. I am half way through the series and it is extremely, extremely good. I would rank Episode 9 as one of the finest pieces of episodic animation ever created.
  16. The series airs starting on October 3. I'm looking forward to it. To anyone that remembers my time from IGN's anime boards, I was/am a big InuYasha/Takahashi fan. This could be fun.
  17. I just started watching Attack on Titan last night. 4-5 episodes in... holy crap, the writer does not give a crap about who lives and dies in this show. Loving it so far, and something tells me it's only going to get crazier. I saw that there's a live action movie they made in Japan that follows the first season, is it worth watching or is it crap? How are the games?
  18. WarnerMedia is looking to offload anime-focused streaming service Crunchyroll and Sony is among the interested acquirers, according to a source with knowledge of the talks
  19. I knew Crunchyroll was already toying with original animated series, but I didn't realize they were so far ahead with four of the series being animated by their own in-house studio. I don't have the time I'd like to watch as much anime as I had in previous years, but I still read a whole heaping of manga and manhwa. That said, I cannot recommend Noblesse and Tower of God enough. They're both based on comics available over on Webtoons and they're both brilliant.
  20. Story here: https://www.theverge.com/2019/7/18/20698910/kyoto-animation-arson-attack-deaths-injuries-suspect Of all the animation studios to attack, someone attacks one of the few studios that actually treats its animators like human beings? This is completely senseless.
