So Police shot a black guy in the Alabama mall shooting and it wasn't the guy who was shooting, but he was "involved in some aspect"....

This sort of story is what makes me worried about my dad carrying. He wouldn’t hesitate to pull his gun out in defense of others, but he’s a black man.

People sometimes get violently angry randomly if you speak a foreign language in public.

I had a shopping bag thrown at me for "speaking that Russian bullshit in my neighborhood" on the subway before and several other incidents. I speak German though :/

Had a friend's mother, who is a very well paid professional translator, recently get yelled at somewhere in the NYC/Jersey City area because she wasn't speaking English on the phone during a private call.

I just don't get what could possibly be going through these people's heads. The only time I can remember ever saying anything remotely pissy to people about the language they were speaking, I was hanging out with some Greek people and I was the only one who didn't speak Greek, and I had to ask them to remember to try to speak English while I was around for the weekend.

That's a different story. I've accidentally done that with my family and my non-German-speaking wife. Shutting someone out of a conversation is rage-inducing, it happens to me now and then with other friends and I get pissed so I get it.

However if the conversation has zero to do with you, it's none of your business. Then again, who knows what brought that on throughout their day. It doesn't justify it of course and you should get over yourself if that really pisses you off that much, but it's a valid thought. People in my old neighborhood hated Russians/East Europeans for taking over so once in a while you'd get someone having a shit-fit over it like the subway bag throwing incident.

He got so mad for being called a snowflake 🤣🤣🤣

I love it so much - they are all about projection, so having their own slang terms used against them derisively drives them up the fucking wall. The best part: they can't deny they are a snowflake by their own definition because complaining about someone else speaking a different language around you (not even at or with you) is pretty much the epitome of snowflake behavior.
