CitizenVectron
GOP Rep. Ken Buck to leave Congress at end of next week | CNN Politics WWW.CNN.COM Republican Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado, a hardline conservative who has clashed with his own party at times, said on Tuesday that he will leave Congress before the end of his term. Narrowing the GOP majority down to just a few seats. 1
Commissar SFLUFAN
Buck is one of the more "reasonable" GOP reps, so this really only gives more leverage to the Freedumb Caucus.
ort
Surely the timing can't be a coincidence. I wonder what's happening behind the scenes to make him leave so suddenly.

She is planning to run for his seat in November. She can’t take part in the special election for the remainder of his current term because she is still the rep for District 3. She would have to resign first and then run, and that would drop the Republican majority immediately to 1 until the special election happens. 1

Colorado doesn't require you to live in the district you're running in?

Commissar SFLUFAN
Johnson's headache just got worse: Republican Rep. Mike Gallagher will resign early, leaving House majority hanging by a thread WWW.NBCNEWS.COM House Republicans lost another member in Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., on Friday. Gallagher's departure on April 19 will leave Republicans with just one vote to spare on legislation. Quote Rep. Mike Gallagher, R-Wis., who announced last month he would not run for re-election, will resign from Congress early, he confirmed in a statement Friday. Gallagher’s departure before the end of his term in January is another blow to Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and House Republicans, who have been struggling to govern and demonstrate stability this Congress. Two sources familiar with the matter told NBC News of Gallagher's plan to resign early on Friday. The Wisconsin Republican then released a statement announcing that he will depart on April 19. That could cause more headaches for House Republicans. Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., who also is not seeking re-election, is resigning from Congress on Friday, cutting the GOP’s minuscule majority to 218-213. When Gallagher leaves, the majority would further shrink to 217-213, meaning Republicans could only afford a single defection on any vote if Democrats vote together. 4 1
ThreePi
They should just give in to the headache. Intentionally give up the majority and publicly blame it on Butthead, Magic The Gathering, and Hand Jobber.
CitizenVectron
I think this will leave the GOP with a 1-vote majority as of April 19?

chakoo
It would probably be in the GOPs interest to have a few people go missing on the day of the vote and let the Dems put up their own. Then they can spend what little time remains complaining how the dems stole the speakership from them. 1

Making votes harder on them for the next 9 months. This is an explicit "fuck you" to House Republicans.
