This was a very pragmatic (by necessity, I suppose) approach by both sides:

The US military negotiated a secret arrangement with the Taliban that resulted in Taliban members escorting groups of Americans to the gates of the Kabul airport as they sought to escape Afghanistan, according to two defense officials.

There have been so many agreements between US forces and the Taliban that it wouldn't surprise me to learn that some guys have even exchanged personal email addresses to keep in touch.

If we can be friends with the Saudis, why not a Taliban-led Afghanistan.

The United States sided the the Soviet Union and FORCED the UK, France, and Israel to stand down to end the Suez Crisis.  The US completely took the side of Egypt and the Limeys STILL haven't gotten over it 65 years later.

I still don't understand why the idea of a "special relationship" didn't die at Suez.

There must be a small unique chip that only the manufacturer can produce maybe that disables them

I have no actual idea, but it could be anything from disabling/removing a custom firmware ROM that initializes the computer system, or just ripping out the entire computer control system. If you had a motherboard with a bespoke architecture that only ran with a custom BIOS, it would be as good as a paperweight without it. You can't even reverse engineer it unless you have another one that's working.

There might be some kind of electronic kill switch for the intelligent anti-rocket system or something, but for the Humvees and the aircraft I feel like there's probably a low tech solution like putting some thermite on the engine blocks or other vital systems.

And even then, Humvees or Black Hawks really aren't that big a deal for the Taliban to get ahold of. It's not some high tech thing that's going to change the Taliban's ability to rule the country or fight. They can get Hiluxes or jeeps or older Russian helicopters... It's just a political loss for us and people clamoring for us to "bwuh, why didn't we keep them from getting those" are just trying to save face.

Wait until they discover how unreliable those M4s are compared to their AKs.

Beijing also reportedly aiming to increase humanitarian assistance, as Taliban prepares to unveil new cabinet
Quote

China has promised to keep its embassy in Kabul open and “beef up” relations, the Taliban have said, as Afghanistan’s new rulers worked on preparing their new government and winning international recognition.

A spokesman for the Islamist militia, Suhail Shaheen, said on Friday a senior member of the Taliban’s political office in Qatar had been told by China’s deputy foreign minister that Beijing also aimed to increase humanitarian assistance.

They remove the gasoline and then put canisters of diesel next to the vehicle.
