  4. I am the author of this game. Thank you very much for posting about it on the forum! I have played both Eye of the beholder, Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back in the 80's. My dream have allways been to create one of these games on my own. Thanks to Unity3D I have fulfilled mn dream. The game is a bit simpler than DM but great fun to play. Unfortunately it's not party based, just one character but it has a lot of puzzles and challenges just like Dungeon Master. The game consists of 11 levels with approximately 6-7 hours of playtime. Thanx again!

  5. Barron Trump to step into the political arena as a Florida delegate at the Republican convention WWW.NBCNEWS.COM The position as an at-large delegate for the Florida Republican Party will be the most high-profile political role thus far for Barron, former President Donald Trump's youngest son. Baron is no longer a kid and now getting involved in the political scene. He’s fair game now.

  8. Saw this last night and it is everything it says on the tin. It's a cheeky, funny, meta, action packed romp. It knows its cues and nails them. The comedy hits, the romantic chemistry is excellent, the stunts are impressive. It never transcends its genre, but it's a very enjoyable celebration of stunts and movie making in a highly entertaining package. Overall just a fun time in the theater. They also get a couple good jabs in at the Academy for not awarding stunt guys, which I appreciated.

  13. This is one of the harder aspects of addiction - unless you are/were an addict, your ability to understand an addict's thought processes is going to be extremely limited, at best. Which isn't meant to be disparaging at all; I've experienced it on a number of occasions when trying to explain what I was thinking/feeling while in action, and I'd be lying if I said that a part of me wasn't grateful that my family and friends are incapable of understanding the full scope of what addiction is, and what it can lead us to do. The best articulation I've heard has been from Dr. Kevin McCauley who has lectured extensively on the Disease Model of Addiction; it can offer some solid insights on the neuro-physiological mechanisms associated with addiction. From a more practical perspective, the regression of someone into a compulsive gambler can take numerous forms and paths - from teens/20-somethings getting roped in after a winning Sunday on DraftKings (easiest money ever!) in a social group setting where everyone is doing it, to people struggling with other issues whose coping mechanisms lead them to isolation and escape (and for whom the allure of a casino provides easy and consistent dopamine stimuli while the presence of others fosters an illusory perception of not being alone), to wealthier individuals whose gambling might start with stock market/crypto speculation but gradually extends to other forms of action...the road to rock bottom starts from many different places, following different routes. To your question about the wealthy - it can often be as simple as finding a novel thrill in a life in which there aren't any existential uncertainties that need to be considered. But to answer one question as well as I can - the high comes from that moment of uncertainty when you've put your cards/bet/race form/dice/roulette chips into play, and are waiting to see if you win or lose. The actual result is (or can be) inconsequentual and anti-climactic - it's the juice that comes with taking that risk and putting things into play. And the progressive nature invariably compels us to increasing the stakes - when a single $5 parlay doesn't do it anymore, multiple $20 bets are needed, which turns into $50 bets on every game at a particular time, which turns into....it's a horrific spiral of craving during which rational thought becomes impossible, where the "need" is engaged by the portion of the brain linked to survival instincts. The lying, cheating, and stealing that addicts often turn to thus is less a breakdown of morals, than a short-circuiting of the pathways responsible for moral consideration, driven by a survival-based need to do whatever it takes to get that next fix. It isn't the least bit rational, and studies/literature on compulsive gambling have yielded some results that are absolutely confounding to those with no experience with addiction - in one study, researchers observed periodic feelings of irritation when someone WON while playing slots, because the win disrupted the flow of (losing) action they had been going through. Absolutely bonkers. But I can get it. Addiction can be hard to understand in the context of gambling, where we aren't talking about a particular susbstance being drunk/snorted/injected, but rather a behavior and series of "choices". But despite that, many of the byproducts are virtually identical to those whose addiction is linked to alcohol, opioids, narcotics, etc. All forms of addiction cause diregulation in the body's dopamine/serotonin/oxytocin secretion, leading to (at times) mania, depression, anhedonia, etc.

  15. A Linked-In post from a former senior PR manager at Microsoft: HA! He uses the identical "Eye of Sauron" terminology to describe the new scrutiny directed towards the Xbox business unit post-ABK acquisition that I did yesterday!

  16. Ultimately, its all bout ROI for anything in business. One could argue that Xbox has been trying to do everything right for a while in the gaming space. They offer tremendous value with Game Pass and Play Everywhere. They really pushed Back Compatibility and upgraded the experience free of charge. They offered a cheaper next gen console for those that wanted to play next gen only games on a budget. They released their games Day and Date on PC for player choice. At the end of the day, none of that mattered, and ended up hurting them more than helping. Day and Date on PC as a hardware manufacturer no doubt cannibalized your hardware business. Add in that Play Anywhere doesn't seem like it's helped move any sales of any games, then you see PlayStation double dipping by releasing on PC a year or two later and getting additional sales revenue. Game Pass itself flatlined at close to 30 million, which seems to be roughly the active install base of Xbox. I honestly believe that even during the 360 Golden era, the actual active install base of Xbox users probably wasn't much higher than 30 million, if that. In 2010 I think Xbox Live users were around 20 million, and that was during the glory days of Halo 3, Gears, and CoD really blowing up. I always though Game Pass could work with scale, but I felt it'd need to be closer to 50 million subs to keep things healthy. They clearly haven't seen any adoption with the Cloud Gaming they were hoping for, and while they said they've grown huge % in PC, % don't mean much when your starting from next to nothing. I don't have issue with them acquiring Bethesda. At the time, Sony were actively making deals to block Xbox versions of games with timed exclusivity. Imagine if when Starfield did release, if it was only on Playstation 5 and not Xbox for another year or two. It'd be even more devastating for Xbox. Xbox needed something to try to give them more relevance to start the generation. I started moving pretty heavily to PC gaming a while ago, but it definitely sucks to see Xbox basically dying. Since basically giving up on having console exclusives, and their hardware sales continue to really struggle, its hard to see a future where they make huge investments in hardware. Especially if MS is riding them this hard only 6 months after closing the ABK deal. I really think the reason for a lot of this, is Starfield didn't do what they needed it to do. It sold decently, but I don't think it moved Game Pass subscribers at all. While I enjoyed the game myself, it clearly didn't hit he same way one would expect a Bethesda RPG like Fallout or Elder Scrolls would. Those can feel like a must have title, and Starfield ultimately didn't live up to that hype. I think that's when Nadella started saying, you promised me Starfield was going to return this in subs/sales, and it fell woefully short of that And that made MS start to scrutinize the rest of the business much more closely. Maybe with the success of the Fallout show, the money men at MS are like, how long til the next Fallout, and the answer is like "10 years". And they are like, lets kill some of the passion projects that didn't move the needle at all last year and get a team working on that right away.

  18. The idea the Trump wouldn't be any worse than Biden for Gaza is so unbelievably stupid that I honestly question some people's sanity when they say shit so ungodly absurd. Trump would not be building a dock to send aid and go around Netanyahu. Trump would not have blocked a weapons shipment last week. Trump wouldn't have cared about those aid workers who were killed and those IDF officers wouldn't have been discharged from the military because of it. Trump wouldn't have demanded more aid routes be open to Gaza threatening no more US aid to Israel. Trump wouldn't be criticizing Netanyahu regularly. Trump wouldn't be making demands on how some things are handled. Trump wouldn't put conditions on aid packages. Trump wouldn't be sending CIA directors to Cairo and Israel to negotiate ceasefires. Yea, Biden is sending aid to Israel. Why? Because it gives the US a fucking say as to what is happening. Does it give the US the ability to stop Netanyahu? lol, lmao, no; but if you don't think Netanyahu without any leash, despite how thin the current one is, wouldn't have paved over Gaza entirely by now, then you have done absolutely zero research on that POS.

  24. Something I've wondered about for the longest time, and it's not an exclusive idea to this board so I'm not picking on Ghost. I don't game on PC minus my Starcraft, but consoles are getting a lot of what comes there anyway. Isn't that a good thing? Since decades ago were times when many games were strictly PC, older Playstation consoles either missed out on a lot of PC games or had weird ports. IIRC, only something like the original Xbox could handle Morrowind or Knights of the Old Republic. Nobody asks if it's the worst time to be a PC gamer because so many games are on consoles too, or that it was better to game on PC when something like Half-Life released and no console could handle it until the PS2 port three years later or stuff like Gabriel Knight or Grim Fandango or Baldur's Gate were only found on PC. I feel as if my PC friends just game and have fun, but for consoles, we think of it differently and ask how many games can be found on PC, when nobody looks at it the other way. Right now, consoles have backwards compatibility so the PS4/XBO releases are essentially PS5/XBS releases as well, you can play even older games on Xbox and you can play PS1 games on PS5 -- freebies if you already bought the PS1 versions on PS3, same with if you bought PS2 games online in previous gens. Consoles have SSDs and instant loading, and they have a tremendous number of games that release. Even something like XBox, which has a much weaker first party lineup imo than the other two, still gets much of the third party releases, so I feel it'd be hard to find NOTHING on it, whether or not you have Game Pass or PS+ for Playstation. I just spent two months playing ONE game in FF7 ReBirth, plus Apollo Justice Trilogy which, again, is PS4 "only" which is irrelevant if you have a PS5 (same for Xbox). It's hard to say things are worse.

  25. Why does this matter? If you buy a console you can play those games. The notion that the console would be better if developers artificially didn't release the game on PC is super weird.

  27. That's pretty consistent with a lot of what we understand about human psychology and behavioral economics. It's one reason why many books focusing on self-improvement speak to setting process-based goals, as opposed to outcome-based. A process-based goal can be sustainable in the long-term; an outcome-based goal, once achieved, can leave one feeling disheartened and lost. And from a broader perspective, the types of goals that we set can be strong indicators of how our individual value systems are arranged. People with outcome-based goals can often unknowingly cultivate such perspectives as a result of some formative event in their life: poor home environment leaving someone feeling unheard/unrecognized/unloved can induce them to seek validation from external sources, leading to a toxic cycle of defining themselves based upon how they perceive others to see them. That's a bit off-topic, although it's a subject I've studied rather closely in working on better understanding my own emotional baggage and disentangling myself from said baggage. I'd spent a long time (far too long, in all honesty) seeking validation from the approval of others because of a deeply flawed sense of self-worth; reprogramming myself with more positive values has been a bit of a challenge at times.
