So, uh, ...

The Trump administration announced Friday night that Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman, who has handled a number of investigations involving the president or his campaign, will be leaving that job, though Berman fired back that he hadn’t resigned and would stay on to ensure his office’s cases proceed unimpeded.

This guy has got some brass balls.  He's refusing to step down or submit to being fired until the Senate confirms a new nominee.  Who knows how long that will take.

Good for him. I also tend to think that they must have some good incriminating shit to put Trump away. Once they get him out of the oval office

I saw someone point out that if Trump's Tulsa Klan rally had happened on Juneteenth as originally planned, that this likely would have gotten lost in the noise of the rally coverage, especially if he got the riot people were worried about.

They can't remove him now because Sessions did an end-run to make him an interim appointment instead of having him be Senate confirmed.

Wow this sounds like something maybe congress should investigate and call barr in for quest.....

They are looking into Barr's actions, and Nadler plans to now bring Berman in for questions.  Problem as always is the senate.

Also Graham seems to have indicated he won't move ahead on any nomination unless the states senators Schumer and Gilibrand sign off on it, which is traditionally how its done.  So Trump/Barr just antagonized someone they can't get rid of till democrats from the state approve a replacement, lol.

Barr throws Trump under the bus (well not quite)

Attorney William P. Barr said on Saturday that President Trump had fired the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan, who has investigated the president’s closest associates, deepening a crisis over the independence of law enforcement and the president’s purge of officials he views as disloyal. Mr. Trump removed the prosecutor, Geoffrey S. Berman, United States attorney for the Southern District of New York, after he had refused to step down on Friday night. The president’s announcement capped an extraordinary clash over an office that has been at the forefront of corruption inquiries into Mr. Trump’s inner circle. The office successfully prosecuted the president’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, who went to prison, and has been investigating Mr. Trump’s current personal lawyer, Rudolph W. Giuliani.

I don’t understand what is happening.

Barr tried to force Berman to resign so he could put some Trump dipshit in the position that apparently doesn't even meet requirements for the position, he said fuck you, so Barr says Trump fired him, Trump says hes not involved, lol, Barr really he just gave in to the fact that he can't put the dipshit in place so Berman stepped aside because the next in line was rightfully going to be put in the position, and shes a long career prosecutor that goes back to the 70s, she actually came out of retirement to work with Berman on these corruption cases.

Not long after she began there, Strauss bested widely known defense attorney Roy Cohn, a man Trump has called a mentor, in a case against two members of the Mafia. She later served on the staff for the independent counsel investigation into the Iran-contra scandal during the Reagan administration.
