I was initially skeptical with first person in REVII, but it was a great game, so I'm all in.

I don't know why, but in a series that has had giant centipedes, snakes, zombie sharks, scorpions, sentient leeches, etc etc etc, werewolves just seem like a tad much.

 

Also, i dont want another stalker enemy. With RE2 and RE3 remakes being so close together, i just feel like another stalker endmy in RE8 would be overkill

Excellent, more first-person! I had feared that with the success of the RE2 Remake they'd make all of the games like that. I enjoy the variety, and RE7 actually had far more in-depth combat than RE2 thanks to proper defensive options. Inject it directly into my SOUL.

I could go either way on the first person. I thoroughly enjoyed both REVII and RE2 Remake and their use of first and third person, respectively. Ultimately, it'll come down to how well it's executed.

• Ethan will be returning as a playable character.
• Resident Evil 8 was tested last year.
• It will not be called Resident Evil 8, but will have a “clever title” (Resident EVIII, amirite?)
• The game will be in First-person like RE7.
• Gameplay starts in a village leading up to a castle.
• The environment will be rural, snowy, and mountainous; possibly Europe.
• Regular zombies will be appearing instead of the Molded from RE7.
• There is a persistent shadowy “female” enemy that will follow you but will dissipate if shot.
• There are also wolf-like creatures that will attack the player in certain areas.
• Chris Redfield will also be returning in some capacity.

I prefer the third person games, but I also really, really enjoyed 2/3 of 7 (the last third is a stinker). 

 

And now that they're remaking the older ones in third person, I guess it's cool they're making the new ones in a new style. And as long as they get away from where 5 and 6 took the series, I'm happy.

I never played 7 so I have no opinion really. Still RE is 3rd person to me. Would have been nice for the first person to be a one off thing.

Absolutely a super likely possibility, but I do question how much in-person feedback they'd need from that over a simple beta test you could do online.

The game comes out pretty soon, it’s probably cheaper to do this and then maybe they would do a public beta after.

I played RE7 the first time without VR since I didn't have the headset yet.

 

So after playing it and knowing the scares, I tried it on VR and stopped playing when I walked into a dark room with a TV playing static. I knew enemies weren't going to show up for a little while and I still couldn't do it.

 

I really want to try it again because RE7 is so fucking fun.

Well, this definitely sounds more interesting than RE7 to me. It not having the ultra-shitty Molded alone is great news.
