I honestly don't because I don't see the point when I'm just going to crawl right back into it when I go to sleep at night. Plus I hear it is actually bad to make your bed right after getting up because you should let your sheets air out a bit.

Don't get me wrong though, it is nice getting into a nice, tightly made bed, and after laundry I always make my bed with my sheets tucked in nicely.

I expect those that had military service to be answering yes since I know that making your bed is basically drilled into you.

I sleep on the floor because it’s better for my back. I don’t think I’ll do it forever but it works for me rn. So I don’t make my bed but I do put away my blankets and stuff. Usually in the morning I do that but on days that are hard to get going I’ll wait til I get home from work.

I go in spurts. Currently I’ve been lazy since I now have a longer commute. Been meaning to get back to doing it every day

I had a college professor ask people if they made the bed on the first day of class. After the show of a handful of hands he said 80% of those that make their beds every day get an A in his class. I’ve always remembered that for some reason.

Take pride in everything you do, even the small things you think don’t matter.

Except this literally doesn’t matter and that statistic is probably something he made up.

Funny, I never waste my time making my bed yet had a 3.8 GPA in college.

And you’ve made it all the way to your Dads basement!!

Doesn't it feel satisfying to use menial, repetitive tasks to bring some semblance of control over our lives into this abject, evil chaos that is existence?

:ohsnap:

Totally serious: someone who runs a halfway house for people who attempted suicide has "make your bed every morning" as Rule #1 of the facility for pretty much that reason.

As much as Jordan Peterson is wrong for just about everything else, he is absolutely correct in emphasizing this simple act as a tangible step towards self-improvement

I actually completely agree and as someone who has had their share of problems, keeping a tidy, neat household in general very much helps satisfy a desire for control in one's life. You can take my original comment, strip the snark away and I agree with myself 100% haha

I’m sorry I just don’t feel like my duvet cover not covering half my bed while I’m not even in my bedroom all fucking day long is really going to make a difference in my life.

However starting tomorrow I will try it for THREE DAYS and let you all know how it goes.

Gotta give it a week at the very least. Waffles will thank you too.

I do. In an ideal world, I wake up early, go to the gym, walk to the dog, make the bed, tidy and wash up and then cook for the day. Since it's so fucking hot and I can't sleep, that's not exactly been the run of things but I do always try and keep things orderly (it allows me to not feel I'm living in a hovel and so can enjoy doing anything else).
