Was just coming to post this. I wonder who they got... the actual shooter is believed to be long dead.

It's probably like those Jimmy Hoffa guys, confessing to something just for 15 minutes of fame. That'd be wild if there was actually some substance to this!

The last living person who was in the car from which the shots were fired.

One of the last living witnesses to the 1996 killing of rapper Tupac Shakur has been arrested in the Las Vegas-area, a long-awaited breakthrough in a case that has frustrated investigators and fascinated the public ever since the hip-hop icon was gunned down on the Las Vegas Strip 27 years ago.

Duane “Keffe D” Davis was taken into custody early Friday morning, on suspicion of murder, according to two officials with first-hand knowledge of the arrest. They were not authorized to speak publicly ahead of an expected indictment later Friday.

Davis has long been known to investigators and has himself admitted in interviews and in his 2019 memoir that he was in the Cadillac from which the gunfire erupted during the September 1996 drive-by shooting.

In his memoir, Davis said he was in the front passenger seat of the Cadillac and had slipped the weapon used in the killing into the backseat, from where he said the shots were fired.

Davis implicated his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, saying he was one of two people in the backseat. Anderson, a known rival of Shakur, had been involved in a casino brawl with the rapper shortly before the shooting.

Anderson died two years later. He denied any involved in Shakur’s death.

Davis revealed in his memoir that he first broke his silence in 2010 during a closed-door meeting with federal and local authorities. At the time, he was 46 and facing life in prison on drug charges when he agreed to speak with them about Tupac’s killing, as well as the fatal shooting six months later of Tupac’s rap rival, Biggie Smalls, also known as the Notorious B.I.G.,

I've never heard of a statute of limitation for murder anywhere here.

I thought it was literally just for being in the car but I saw after I posted that he handed the gun to the guy who fired it so it makes more sense.

In curious, why?

Because the long-standing conspiracy theory that P. Diddy ordered the hit on Tupac in retaliation for this event:

Shakur was robbed and shot four times when he arrived at Quad Studios in Times Square. In 1995, Shakur publicly accused Biggie and Combs of their involvement in the shooting as they had been at the same studio at the time.

Ahh, man I remember that now! Wild times, what is the Gen Z equivalent to that dose of Kurt/Biggie/Tupac deaths we had as teens?

That was debunked a LOOONG time ago. Most who were in the know, knew Puffy had nothing to do with 'Pac getting shot and robbed INCLUDING 'Pac. Tupac got set up by a well known figure in NY Hiphop/Street shit named Jimmy Henchman. In fact Biggie tried to WARN 'Pac about hanging with Jimmy Henchman and Tupac being the loud mouthed poser that he was, ignored him and rather than go after Jimmy Henchmen who was a REAL gangster (and also it turns out, a confidential informant) he accused Biggie and Puffy which then helped spark the whole East Coast/West Coast beef of the 90's.

James Rosemond, known by his alias 'Jimmy Henchman', has implicated himself in the shooting of rapper Tupac Shakur. Shakur was shot at Quad Recording Studios in New York. Tupac placed the blame on Rosemond in his song 'Against All Odds'.

Rosemond is currently on trial on separate drug trafficking charges and has admitted to ambush the rapper, according to reports in US magazine The Village Voice. The publication reports that Rosemond is attempting to enter into a bargain plea on his current case by divulging information on the Shakur shooting in the hopes that it could lead to a lighter sentence.

In June of 2011, low-key hoodlum Dexter Isaac stated that he was paid by Rosemond to commit the crime, saying: "In 1994, James Rosemond hired me to rob 2Pac at the Quad Studio. He gave me $2,500, plus all the jewelry I took, except for one ring, which he wanted for himself. It was the biggest of the two diamond rings that we took. He said he wanted to put the stone in a new setting for his girlfriend at the time, Cynthia Reed. I still have as proof the chain that we took that night in the robbery."

Due to the statute of limitations expiring in relation to the case, Rosemond (nor anyone else) will never be tried for the crime which was classified as a robbery, instead of attempted murder.

Tupac even rapped about it on one of his songs so he knew...

Quote

"Jimmy Henchman. . .
[You] set me up, wet me up... stuck me up.
But you never shut me up."
-Against All Odds

Tupac was a fake gangster who started to believe how own hype and got killed because of it when he fucked around with REAL killers.

IF true, why in the hell was this guy not arrested fucking YEARS ago as all he's done is run his mouth & take credit.

They were apparently building the case... like I said a lot of us were asking tge same thing and assumed he was being "protected" because he was an informant.

Wasn't Pac an abuser of women?

Amongst other things... I remember that porn star Terra Patrick saying he... stuck a gun in her private area. Not sure if it was consensual or not. He also did time for rape I believe.

Then I don’t quite understand the hero worship for the guy. He may have had some poignant lyrics, but rape kinda overrides all that.

I don't get the posthumous veneration for rappers who were objectively pieces of shit.

It's like in the comments section of every King Von video on YouTube, "RIP, we lost you too soon." The dude literally (allegedly) killed like 12 people and bragged about it on Twitter. Sorry if I'm not shedding a tear at his death.

Tupac gets hero worship because he used to try to put money into underprivileged communities, especially the ones around where he came from. He used to do concerts, basically in the streets, in these areas and give all the money to the local schools and communities centers iirc, and he was big on “not forgetting” where he came from. Does this excuse other behavior? No, of course not, I’m just stating the part of the “why” he gets the worship. The documentary “Tupac Resurrection” has a ton of handicam footage of these shows he would do.

Tupac also had a wild “who’s who” in his dating life, which is wild when you think he was only 25 when he was killed.

He was with Madonna, Jada Pinkett Smith (who once told Will straight to his face that ‘Pac was the only true love of her life which explains why their marriage is the fucked up thing that it is), and Jerry Garcia’s daughter, which sparked the hilarious story of him and her TRASHING his place during a party they threw, and Jerry coming home and being sad they didn’t invite him.

I think Rashida Jones’ sister as well. I think that’s who he was dating when he was killed.
