The US Coast Guard launched a search and rescue operation for a submersible with five people on board that went missing during an expedition to the wreckage of the Titanic.

Sad to say but it looks like the ship might claim a few more lives for its death tally. I believe James Cameron also had a scary similar moment like this while filming the movies opening scenes.

We went on our first submarine ride this year. Just 150 feet, a boat spotted us on the surface.

This was 13,000 feet, my god. It also was a submersible, not a regular submarine, which needs a mothership to do a search and rescue. Hopefully it works.

$250k per person GEE ZUZ.

Also...

The sub is likely NOT equipped with a distress beacon. There's been NO communications about looking for a beacon signal or anything, prompting questions about whether it even has one.

And then there's this.

Quarter mil for a ride on that death trap.

From a Yahoo news article:

"There's no backup, there's no escape pod," Pogue told the BBC. "It's get to the surface or die."

Pogue said that he was hesitant about getting into the submersible in November because the equipment on board appeared to be "improvised" and "off the shelf."

"You steer this sub with an Xbox game controller, some of the ballast is abandoned construction pipes," Pogue told the BBC."

This is according to a November report from the CBS News correspondent David Pogue, who previously took a trip on OceanGate's Titan submersible to see the wreck of the Titanic."

Yeah no thanks.

so the either a) the batteries died on the controller or b) that stick drift on the Xbox controller is worse then we thought

This thing has like 2 days of air left... the most likely scenario is they are either stuck in the wreckage somehow or somewhere near it. Imagine what goes through your head when you are trapped in a small metal tube with 5 other people, waiting 3 days to run out of air while completely helpless... 2 miles underwater... slowly waiting to join the 1,500 souls you thought it would be jolly good time to spend $250,000 to have a little gander at...

I mean, woof...

And if they lost power, it's completely dark.

I would rather the hull implode.

Divided on this:

IRL brain: This is a horrible death to contemplate!

Internet brain: Tiniest Bioshock sounds real bad.

Galaxy brain: how do we get the Trumps and Elon into one of these things?

Musk for all his talk about being an interplanetary race hasn't taken one ride on any of his rockets.  Bezos and Branson were on the first real flights of their's, Musk is content to watch them on a screen.

Also that submarine driver should have told his big brother to not be an asshole and stop hogging the good controller.
