I don't think I could possibly come up a more dystopian thread title if I tried.

The Canadian firm says it specializes in companies with regulatory or other challenges.

MindGeek, the parent of Pornhub, the world’s biggest porn site, and other adult entertainment platforms was acquired by a Canadian private equity firm called Ethical Capital Partners, or ECP, for an undisclosed amount.

ECP launched in 2022 in Montreal. Its website says it’s good at dealing with problem companies, seeking out tech-focused investment and advisory opportunities “in industries that require principled ethical leadership…have legal and regulatory complexity and that put a value on transparency and accountability.”

Pornhub, founded in 2007, changed the world of adult entertainment. It has over 76 million monthly active registered members and over 130 million adults visit the site daily for “the best selection of award-winning performers, the most extensive collection of high-quality videos, and a safe, user-friendly experience for viewers,” the deal announcement says. It’s been plagued by scandal and is the subject of the Netflix documentary Money Shot: The Pornhub Story by Suzanne Hillinger, produced by Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, which hit the streamer yesterday.

I honestly can’t determine which side of the deal is more unethical

Putting “ethical” in the name is like dudes who put “happily married” in their social media bio.

If you have to tell people that…

This one is for a documentary but anyone find it weird we are getting a lot of movies for products now?

The Tetris movie is coming, there's a blackberry movie and an Air Jordan movie AND a movie about Flamin Hot Cheetos :silly:

It's the next evolution of making a game movie / show to drive sales to the actual game.

I didn't realize this was a thing.

Agreed. Unfortunately I can't get off of this rock.

Also @sblfilms I'm gonna one up you and throw down the gaunlet. If you are putting in your bio happily married, are you telling that to yourself or others? But yes you shouldn't feel the need to tell someone unless someone asks.

I just watched Money Shot on Netflix last night, it was definitely worth the time.

It was telling how fast they got rid of all of the illegal shit on their website the second they got exposed for hosting it, pretty much proving that they just didn’t care. It’s pretty disgusting, tbh.

but also, It gave tons of women a safe space to make porn without being robbed and exploited by studios. It wasn’t all awful, but the revenge porn, and especially any underage and rape stuff, are unforgivable.
