These are the 25 most backlogged games on HowLongtoBeat, according to user-provided data. Log in to track games, mark them completed, and more!

I own 19 of these and have beaten 12. Interesting so many of the same games are backlogged by a majority of gamers. I'd cite two things... difficulty and length. Devs should take notice of this.

The ones I own and have any interest in, I've actually played. Most of them beaten. I only dropped Hollow Knight and Witcher III. MGSV I put like 150+ hours into and Dishonored I've beaten multiple times. Same with Alan Wake despite not thinking it's that great.

Yeah there's a couple on this list that I've beaten more than once and others I haven't beaten at all.

Sadly, I have 23 out of 25 of those games, I’m only missing Life is Strange and GTAV, unless you count redeeming it on EGS and never touching it.  Of the 23, the only one I haven’t beaten is Hollow Knight.  At some point I lost the thread and just never came back.

Some of those are weird though.  Amnesia is not a long game, nor is Life is Strange.  The super long RPGs I get but short of not liking them who doesn’t beat half of these games?

I have to say my backlog, which isn't very big to begin with, is mostly all sorts of niche indie games I end up buying on sale to check out something new and it turns out they require a lot learning of new systems and I go 'ahhh later...'. Like I bought Darkwood and it seems fucking cool but lord does that game feel esoteric and hard to pick up.

From that list:

Owned and beaten: 12

Owned but haven't beaten: 5

Don't own: 8

Of the 5 that I own, but haven't beaten, I don't consider them "backlog" because I have no intention of ever playing them again let alone beating them (Witcher 3, Hollow Knight, Amnesia, Bastion, and Arkham City).

Beat Hollow Knight, Tomb Raider, Life is Strange, Bastion and Psychonauts.  Watched someone else play through Bioshock when it came out.  Gave up on Darksiders about halfway through, can't remember why.

The rest I own outside of some Bethesda stuff: Skyrim, Fallout 4 and New Vegas (rumored to be a Prime giveaway next week).

I'm not really itching to get to any of the rest anytime soon.  Maybe Portal 2 and Arkham City, since I beat the previous entries.

I've beaten all the games I want to on the list, the others are not in my backlog. The only one still left in my backlog is Hollow Knight.

And what a game that is.  Hope you enjoy it whenever you get around to it.  It's Super Metroid writ large, which isn't for everyone.

Hollow Knight is the only one of those that I would say is truly on my backlog. I didn’t come close to finishing Witcher 3, so it could count, but I never really plan on getting back to it. Everything else on that list I’ve either beaten (surprisingly most of them) or tried and didn’t like.

@Phaseknox I'd put priority in playing MGSV. It has some of best gameplay from last gen. The story is basically non existent but good lord was the game fun as hell and like crack.

I plan on playing it when I’m in the mood for it, but I haven’t really liked Metal Gear Solid since the second game which is why I haven’t played V yet.

Portal 2 and Batman: Arkham City are a couple of my all-time favorite games. I would recommend playing them sooner rather than later if you liked Portal and Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The Witcher III, the Fallouts, and Skyrim are never really done... you just kinda reach the point where you consider yourself done. I guess technically The Witcher 3 is still in my backlog, since I never finished Blood and Wine, but I played the ever-loving shit out of that game and at some point you just gotta walk away.

I'll come back to it when (IF) they release the current gen update.

The Witcher three definitely has an ending. I know after beating it three or four times :p Skyrim and Fallout, can keep going with the radiant quests that are generated.

I have beat a lot of games on that list, but most I don't ever care to beat. Similar to Xbob, Hollow Knight is a game I own and would like to play it, but I have yet to ever get the desire to really play it. It is the only one on the list I would like to play, but I am still waiting for desire to strike.

Out of these games I have beaten

- BioShock
- BioShock Infinite
- Tomb Raider 2013

- Fallout: New Vegas

- Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

- Half-Life 2

That's it. I've also played a decent chunk of Fallout 4, but haven't beaten it yet. Kinda put it on hold for the past year or so, lol.

Yeah, Witcher 3 definitely has an ending. I completed the game and the dlc. It's still one of my favorite games of all time. The DLC is even better.

I don't have a backlog beyond the next game im playing. I jump into stuff. If I don't like it, I jump out. If I left it unfinished for a year or more, theres usually a reason.

It’ll just feel like any basic Metroidvania at the start, almost to a fault.

But if you like the feeling of Super Metroid or Prime when you get deep into the depths, there’s no game that does it better.

Samus Returns is the closest modern analog I’ve played to its vibe.  But it’s nowhere near as good.
