Fizzzzle
For some reason, that's the one word that seems demeaning as fuck to me. I'm not your fucking bud, pal.
Mr.Vic20
Depends if they come by it honestly and if the tone is right. I've long since learned that tone and posture usually means a lot more than word choice with the talkie biped types.

Phaseknox
I live in a somewhat small retirement town, and get called young man a lot despite being 52 because I look 42. I haven’t been called bud, chief, pal or anything else like that in a long time.

Keyser_Soze
Sure it's fine. It's kind of annoying when a white person calls you brother though.

silentbob
Not really, cause I would awesome they were talking to my dog. My dad/uncle have also called me bud for ages and I’m ok with it. Pal I don’t like cause it never sounds like they mean it in a good way and always seems like it’s a sarcastic remark instead. Happy to say I got carded yesterday for lottery tickets. Which means this 40 year fella still looks 25 or under. Ok the law is 18+ but require stores to I.D. if you look 25 or under. I’ll take it cause my parents said to “take it when you can”
Ominous
We can add Big Guy to the list too. Listen...I'm like 5'11 and maybe 175 if I'm retaining water, so just knock that shit off.

best3444
I did have one employee call me "cutie" pretty consistently now that I remember. I just laughed at it but he would say it right when he saw me in the morning. He no longer works at my place.

Nokra
Unless the tone or body language strongly suggests it's more meaningful, I chalk it up to them just being a little thoughtless with their word choices.

gamer.tv
Not my favourite choice of word. I’m from a culture where ‘mate’ is still the king of not-using-a-name-but-using-a-word.
