They even ask “so, did you just grow up in a Republican family?” They were giving her the room to explain where she was at the time and it was pretty much a non-answer. In the time period we are talking about, she was a fully grown woman of exceptional educational pedigree. The notion that she was a Republican for no reason at all is beyond questionable.
