They allege that the group of conservative leaders defrauded donors and that led to raising “more than $25 million to build a wall along the southern border of the United States,” according to the press release. I may be wrong, but I think SDNY is federal, under the juristiction of DOJ, it's just based in New York. That's why Trump has been able to mess with the appointments.
