The date of Queen Elizabeth's funeral will be marked in Canada with a national holiday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Tuesday.

However, it's just a federal stat holiday, meaning that federally regulated industries (such as banking, national transportation, etc) will get it off, but not everyone else. In order for us commoners to get it off, the premiers need to make it a provincial holiday. Trudeau is apparently trying to convince them to...but I can totally see them disagreeing in order to declare a win against him...even though most people would gladly take a day off next week.

It requires a constitutional amendment that would have to be agreed to by the House, the Senate and all 10 Provincial legislatures.
Imagine the effort of trying to get the Alberta and Quebec legislatures to agree on the same constitutional change.
