The number of positions would be far more than Jacksonville police assign to investigate homicides.

The new Office of Election Crime and Security, likely the first of its kind in any state, would give DeSantis and future governors unprecedented authority over election-related investigations. It would employ 45 investigators and have a $5.7 million budget and a broad mandate to look into violations of state election law and election "irregularities."

Quote

"What in the world are 52 investigators going to do all year long? Wait for the phone to ring?" said Andrew Warren, Hillsborough County's state attorney.

With so few cases of fraud, he implied an office of that size could abuse its authority, saying that it "would feel pressure to go out and create its own cases without predicate complaints of wrongdoing."

Totally normal and not a setup to rig elections.

Time to sever florida. The Ocean can claim her.

Yeah, but some huge Loki F8 hurricane will probably form out of no where and send her back to rejoin the lower states. No one wants Florida. . . except people running for President and them precious points they so crave

1876

I mean, you could go to 1824 for that, but that was a *legit* backroom deal, if that's a thing. 1876 wasn't a coup so much as an... "illegitimate" backroom deal?

"We'll concede defeat in exchange for ending all capability of enforcing reconstruction laws"

It wasn't a coup, it was a tactical manouvre. It was conservatives playing the long game, as they always seem better at doing.
