Does the game have a feature for the bodycam to mysteriously experience a "malfunction" before shooting a suspect?

The nearly photorealistic bodycam effect led some to question whether Unrecord was legit, so the developer turned on noclip.

Yesterday, developer Alexandre Spindler and Studio Drama revealed Unrecord, a first-person shooter with a striking bodycam perspective which frequently sells the illusion of being real camera footage.

 

It's so convincing that some questioned whether they were looking at a pre-rendered, on-rails game, or perhaps actual video footage. A few hours after the announcement, Spindler responded: "It's not a rail shooter or an FMV, it is indeed an FPS and these images are from real-time gameplay, not pre-rendered."

 

Today, Spindler went further, uploading a new video of the game (embedded above and in the tweet(opens in new tab) below) which includes the Unreal Engine user interface. Near the end of the video, he frees up the camera, no-clipping through the level to prove that it's genuinely an FPS with free movement. "For those who thought Unrecord was fake or a video, sorry," Spindler wrote.

That's pretty much my reaction as well.

 

This falls squarely under the ideas heading of "just because you can do it doesn't mean that you should do it".

Nothing in the gameplay really appeals to me.

 

However, the realism was really impressive.  Although, I can't ever see myself playing something with that much of a "shaky-cam".

Reminds me of the original Killzone CG trailer in terms of fake looking gameplay.  So props to them if they pulled this off, premise aside.

I saw the trailer for this game yesterday and thought about asking the question of when do we get to the point where graphical realism is too much. This game is really pushing that line, but not in a good direction.

I know a lot of Tarkov streamers are looking for an alternative (to the point a huge group of them are just playing Minecraft together now because of how broken Tarkov is) if this was MP it might be it.

The technology and execution of how movement works is impressive though. I could play a game like that even with the shaky cam. It’s just you are playing as the wrong character. If it’s multiplayer and you can shoot at the cops maybe Ill give it a shot.

Gotham Knights let’s you beat up cops, that’s a game that knows it’s place in time if nothing else.

So it's just an asset pack he used, for the environment at least. That explains the colossal difference between the realistic environment and the absolutely hilariously bad FMV-game quality UI. How uninteresting.

Oh, if this is just a UE5 demo some guy made then he did a good job executing how the movement looks but I wouldn’t hold my breath on a game you will play out of this.

I do enjoy the action of having your weapon system jam in the middle of a firefight & you have to clear your chamber. That little nugget of realism was enjoyable.

The "noclip" command is enabled in the developer console to pass through walls and other solid objects.

This is just like all the UE5 demos, I’m hyped for it, but damnit when is a UE5 non multiplayer AAA game gonna dropppppp

Visually that was very impressive. With all the little tricks used it does indeed look real, and I questioned it myself a few times. If you look closely though you can see the "game" effects.

Almost uncanny valley as far as the environments and lighting. Not really a shooter fan but looked pretty impressive to this potato farmer

I saw the game announcement but not the July date so I just lumped it in with the other no eta UE5 games! July is good timing for that game as if it wasn’t the first big UE5 game to actually come out I wouldn’t be that interested!
