Whoever said let Blue Point is right on the money. That studio is straight FIRE. But I’m glad someone picked up the project and got the ball rolling again.

I forgot this is weirdly a ps5 console exclusive, you are right, just give it to BP.

Saber is a quality studio, this is good.

Even considering to continue this project is such a bad idea for Saber/Embracer that I'm shocked that it just hasn't been cancelled outright.  Saber Interactive and its component studios are solidly "AA" developers that have absolutely no business taking on a project of this scale and scope.

There is absolutely no way that this project isn't going to turn into a financial/personnel black hole that will have an end result that will satisfy absolutely no one.

The trailers have been made "private" on YouTube and the tweets relating to it have been deleted from the PlayStation account per this ResetERA thread.

I think it's safe to say that this project is now a Force ghost, probably because Sony ended its financial involvement.

IT'S NOT DEAD...YET!

The game's reveal at a 2021 PlayStation Showcase is being nuked from the internet

Update 9/29/2023 11:54 a.m. ET: A spokesperson for Sony said the KOTOR remake trailer was delisted over licensing issues. “As part of normal business, we delist assets with licensed music when the licenses expire,” they told Kotaku in an email. The only music in the trailer seems to be the main Star Wars theme which is owned by Disney.

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is dead and no longer actively being worked on, according to a new report.

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake is dead. At least, that’s what Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb had to say on Friday morning during his Game Mess Mornings show.

“I just want to clear it up, this game is not being worked on right now,” Grubb said around the 57-minute mark. “Just full stop. This game is not being worked on in any way, at any studio.”

Originally announced back in 2021, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake has been through development turmoil from the start. It was first in development by Aspyr Media before Embracer Group shifted the game over to Saber Interactive in August 2022.

During his show, Grubb also mentioned that the game may have even been moved away from Saber Interactive as well.

Per a ResetERA poster:

Here's most of the information from Jeff and Tam's discussion on Game Mess Mornings.

  • Full stop: The game is not being worked on, by any studio.
  • Only two entities that could step in are Sony (had co-publishing rights) and Disney/Lucas.
  • Grubb heard echos that Sony wants nothing to do with this game.
  • The original pitch was appealing to Lucas Arts because they didn't have to be too involved. Aspyr would handle development, Embracer/Sony would handle publishing.
  • Very unlikely that Lucas would come in and take over everything.
  • As it stands right now, "this game is deader than dog shit".

In the absence of the low-interest economic climate that created it, the recklessness and unsustainability of Embracer Group’s aggressive acquisition strategy is laid bare

It’s not clear what, if anything, the firm’s management thought the endgame would be. One oft-floated speculation is that they thought they were building a diverse publisher that would make a tempting acquisition target for some huge company aiming to further their gaming ambitions.

If this was their grand strategy……lolololol
